Bayelsa West Senatorial Election: Kinsmen Kick Against Dickson's Candidature - Creeks News

 By CreeksNews

As the race for who represents Bayelsa West Senatorial District hots up, a group under the aegis of the All Progressives Congress Frontiers has kicked against the candidature of former Governor Seriake Dickson, arguing that government must not be a family affair.

The group led by former aides to a former Governor and Minister of State for Petroleum, Timipre Sylva, strongly believed that equality and fair play should be the watchword in the current political atmosphere.

Chief Bodi Arerebo and Chief Perekeme Kpodo, who spoke in an interview in Yenagoa on Saturday, said the endorsement of Dickson by the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was a violation of an earlier ‘gentlemen agreement.’

They, therefore, pitched their tent with a former Deputy Governor of the state, Chief Peremobowei Ebebi, who recently dumped the PDP for the APC to contest for the vacant Bayelsa West Senatorial District’s seat.

Bayelsa West district is made up of Sagbama and Ekeremor local government areas of the state.

While Ebebi of the APC is from Ekeremor, immediate past Governor Seriake Dickson, a leader of the PDP, is from Sagbama.

They contended the positions of Senator and member of House of Representatives in Bayelsa West Senatorial District are shared between the two LGAs.

According to the group, Dickson had served at the House of Representatives and also served eight years as governor of the state, hence he should give other people the chance to serve since it is not a family affair.

Particularly, Arerebo added: “You see, that is the reason why some of us have added our voice to the numerous Sagbama and Ekeremor people that Dickson should give chance to others, to be honest, and candid.

“Dickson, when he was in the House of Representatives, his friend and in-law Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, was with him; when he became Governor, the same Ewhrudjakpo, was with him.

“Then he sent Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo to the Senate and he brought him back to become Deputy Governor and he now wants to go to the Senate. Is it a family affair or something? It shouldn’t be so.

“There is a zoning formula in Bayelsa West District. He (Dickson) is the person that is breaching it. So that is why we are saying that Ekeremor should produce the next Senator.”

However, there appears to be a misconception about the zoning arrangement in the district as deep resentment and anger have trailed the decision of Ebebi to join the contest.

Political stakeholders recently expressed discomfort with Ebebi’s decision because according to them, his entry violates an unwritten agreement on power rotation between the two LGAs.

Top political stakeholders reportedly held a critical meeting where it was decided that Ekeremor people should not contest the vacant position in adherence to the existing agreement on power rotation since they already have the incumbent House of Representatives member.

Political leaders of Sagbama and Ekeremor had issued a joint statement where it was said that Sagbama should complete the tenure of Ewhrudjakpo for an Ekeremor person to start afresh tenure in the spirit of the age-long agreement on power-sharing or rotation in the area.

The former deputy governor, who has indicated an interest in the senatorial contest, is from the same Ekeremor LGA as Mr. Fred Agbedi who represents the area in the lower chambers.

Just In: Gov. Okowa Inaugurate State Economic Council, Charge Them To Institute A Strong Economy

 By CreeksNews

Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, of Delta State has inaugurated the State’s Economic Council, with a charge to the members to institute strong, credible and enduring platforms for diversification of the economy and enhancing business competitiveness.

The Council is headed by the Deputy Governor, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro while the Commissioner for Economic Planning, Dr Barry Pere-Gbe, is the Secretary.

At the ceremony in Asaba, on Friday the governor urged the Council to proffer viable alternatives to building strong Public, Private Partnerships (PPP), formulate policies and practices that promote institutional transparency and accountability, including systematic disclosure of accurate and reliable financial information.

He also tasked the body to ensure predictability of policies that would create confidence in the investing public and provide innovative strategies for expanding the tax base and improving the efficiency of tax administration.

According to him, the council is also expected to initiate reforms aimed at strengthening public financial management systems, including budget management, mid-year budget reviews designed to align annual budgets to emerging scenarios/trends.

Okowa said that the inauguration of the council was in line with the Delta State Economic Planning Council Law Cap D14, Laws of Delta State 2008, explaining that the constituting the council was one of the many steps his administration was taking to build a Stronger Delta.

He stated that the council was empowered to formulate and prepare long term, medium term and short term development plans for the state and local governments within the framework of the national objectives and priorities, “and transmit the same to the National Planning Commission’’.

“As with the other sub-national governments and the national government, our economic situation is regrettably still fragile, depending largely on oil earnings and, therefore, vulnerable to price volatility and commodity booms and busts.

“Let me stress that we must continue to improve our credibility rating on issues concerning transparency and accountability, not only among our people, but also in the eyes of the business and investment community if we are to mobilize the level of support and partnership required to actualise our Stronger Delta vision.

“We must also continue to rationalise expenditures, maximise value for money and ensure good project selection to enhance judicious allocation of resources,” the governor said.

He recalled that the average annual growth rate in the State from 2013 to 2015 was 8.9 per cent, but that it had accelerated to an annual average of 13.2 per cent from 2015 to 2017.

Okowa said “Delta did not only surpass the national average on both indices of economic development, but climbed up the rung in the rank of states, especially in the poverty-to-population ratio.

“Lagos led the chart (4.5 per cent) of prosperous states on poverty-to-population ratio followed closely by Delta (6.0 per cent). Delta took a leap forward both in terms of the number of people who migrated from poverty-to-prosperity, and those rescued from the unemployment market.

“More importantly, the economy is now well positioned to engender inclusivity and sustainable development.

“For instance, our model job creation scheme has produced multiple benefits and impacts in tackling youth unemployment, preventing youth restiveness, stimulating the agricultural sector, supporting, and promoting micro and small enterprises.

“We are committed to sustaining this momentum in the Delta State Medium-Term Development Plan (2020-2023) which has been finalized and should soon be unveiled to the public. This second plan encapsulates the strategic imperatives of our Stronger Delta mantra.

“Our goal remains to grow the economy in a manner that is rapid, inclusive, sustained and sustainable.”

He congratulated members of the Council and urged them to be guided by the zeal to contribute to the economic growth and development of the state.

Responding on behalf of members of the Council, Commissioner for Finance, Chief Fidelis Tilije, commended the governor for his proactive steps at ensuring that there was security of lives and property in the state, adding that the atmosphere of peace was evident in the state.

He expressed confidence that the Council would “take the right steps to ensure that economic processes and procedures are not just established but seen to be operational and contribute to the equitable development of Delta.”

Members of the council are Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Chief Chika Ossai; Commissioner for Basic and Secondary Education, Chief Patrick Ukah; Commissioner for Justice, Mr Peter Mrakpor; Commissioner for Transport, Mr Oviemuno Oghoore.

Others are Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye; Secretary to the State Government, Mr Chiedu Ebie; Chairmen of the 25 local government councils; Permanent Secretary, Local Government; Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Economic Planning; Representative of the Delta State Chamber of Commerce, Industries, Mines and Agriculture (DACCIMA) and Representative of Delta State Economic Recovery Advisory Council (DERAC).

Okowa, South-South PDP Sure Of Obaseki's Victory On September 19- Says Justice Group

 By CreeksNews

...Says Ize-Iyamu's Simple Agenda Is To Loot Edo Treasury As Revealed By Adams Oshiomhole.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, and her governorship candidate in Edo State, have been warned not to manipulate the

September 19 elections so as not to ignite bloodbath in the state, as credible sources confirmed on Wednesday that the "Lions and Tigers" allegedly recruited by Adams Oshiomhole and Osagie Ize-Iyamu were putting finishing touches to unlawful rigging strategies especially on how to paint Edo red on election day.

And in swift reaction, the Coalition of PDP intelligentsia for Rule of Law and Justice, CIRLJ, called for peaceful and transparent electioneering process before, during and after election, saying that the life of any Edo man or woman must not be sacrificed for any of the candidates to emerge as winner.

The Chief Scribe of the Coalition and Barrister at Law, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe in a statement on Thursday urged President Mohammadu Buhari, to use his good office to ensure that Osagie Ize-Iyamu and Adams Oshiomhole do not execute their alleged plan to harass, intimidate and provoke unwarranted violence on election day, pointing out that the APC governorship candidate and his new political godfather,.Oshiomhole cannot arm twist voters to the detriment of peace and security in Edo state.

The group debunked recent propaganda via the mass media wherein the APC alleged that the Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, was planning to sponsor political thugs to carryout act of violence on election day, rather APC and her candidate were worried over the huge support that the governors and people of South-South geopolitical zone accorded and still according Governor Godwin Obaseki because of his good governance giant strides in the State.

The PDP justice group noted that Osagie Ize-Iyamu has no good story to tell about his past assignments as Chief of Staff and Secretary to Edo State Government, SSG, other than his involvement in looting Edo state treasury as revealed by the former governor of APC in the State, Adams Oshiomhole.

"It is on record that it was APC government in Edo State under Adams Oshiomhole that exposed Osagie Ize-Iyamu as one of the principal actors that looted the state treasury in the past, and waved his immunity publicly to enable Ize-Iyamu prosecute him but unfortunately no legal action was brought against Oshiomhole due to Ize-Iyamu's guilty mind as revealed by the former governor of Edo State.

"Osagie Ize-Iyamu on the other hand accused Oshiomhole of mismanaging N1.4 trillion of Edo state money. It is therefore dangerous and unsafe for two fraudsters to gang up against Edo people at this time with the sole intention of forcefully rigging election so as to attack the state treasury. But one thing is sure, the gallant Edo youths shall surely prevail against dark forces represented by the lions and tigers.

"It is obvious that Osagie Ize-Iyamu's Simple Agenda is to simply siphon Edo peoples money into private pockets. It is as SIMPLE as that, but Edo people will never fall for a bogus and deceitful Agenda that is simple enough to bring Edo state back to square one. God forbid.

"Governor Okowa of Delta State is pleased with the uncommon socioeconomic transformation in Edo state under Godwin Obaseki, and he is very eager to see the continuation of positive trend of good governance in multiple effects for another eight years hence he took time off to join his co-PDP Governor to campaign and commission valuable projects; and  to equally corroborate the good testimony of Obaseki's achievements in four years and the need to sustain the temple.

"Gov Okowa is well known for his peace and unity advocacy in Nigeria, and the 2015 and 2019 governorship elections in Delta State, were adjudged most peaceful, transparent and free compared to other states in Nigeria. His integrity in democratic electioneering processes cannot be faulted by any reasonable politician that knows his onions. Gov Okowa is a God fearing perfect gentleman.

"It is therefore safe to assert that the platinum governor of Delta State and a major stakeholder in peace and unity of Nigeria, cannot be found in the lower cadre of radical and blood thirsty politicians who recruits lions and tigers to intimidate, harass and promote violence in our electioneering process in Edo State.

"We urge President Buhari to put aside party sentiments and focus more on the unity and peaceful coexistence of Nigerians, and particularly in Edo State by ensuring that the lions and tigers recruited by Adams Oshiomhole and Osagie Ize-Iyamu do not rear their ugly heads on September 19, to avoid bloodbath and acute insecurity that may led to lost of lives and wanton destruction of valuable public and private properties in the state.

"We are by this statement appealing to the owners and sponsors of lions and tigers to have a rethink and embrace peace, free and fair election.

"PDP want the electioneering process to be peaceful, free, transparent and devoid of any form of inference by way of direct or indirect federal might in favour of APC and her governorship candidate on election day. This is key and we trust that Mr. President has the capacity to ensure unhindered voting on that day.

"The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, must be seen to be unbiased and must not do anything funny by way of compromising the process on election day in favour of the APC and her candidate, as this may spell doom that will have multiplying negative effects on our nascent democracy.

"We therefore urge INEC chairman to use his good office to ensure that the election in Edo is without blemish by all standards on September 19. This is what we ask for and all parties and stakeholders should advise their polling units agents to be law abiding, go about their legitimate assigned official responsibilities peacefully devoid of violence, unscrupulous practices and ballot papers fraud," the group added.

Kogi Election: Supreme Court Fixes August 31st For Verdict On Wada's Appeal

 By CreeksNews

Supreme Court sitting in Abuja has fixed August 31, 2020, for the judgement in the appeal filed by the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Musa Wada.

Mr. Wada is challenging the election victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Yahaya Bello as the Governor of Kogi State.

His party (PDP) insisted that its candidate won the November 16, 2019 governorship election while Mr. Wada claims that the election that brought in Mr. Bello as governor of the state was riddled with serious electoral infractions.

In May, Mr. Wada lost his petition at the election tribunal which sat in Abuja

In the judgment of two to one, delivered by the Chairman of the Tribunal, Justice Kashim Kaigama, the tribunal held that the petitioner had failed to prove the allegations of over-voting, massive thumb printing, voter intimidation, and other electoral malpractices.

The tribunal also awarded a cost of one million naira to be paid by the petitioners, PDP and Musa Wada to INEC, Yahaya Bello, and APC who are the respondents.

Thereafter, Mr. Wada lost his appeal before the Court of Appeal, being dissatisfied with the judgement, he approached the Apex Court.

Delta PDP, An Amalgam Of Political Jobbers, Says Delta APC

By CreeksNews

The attention of the All Progressives Congress, Delta State have been drawn to a purported Press Release credited to one Dr. Ifeanyi M. Osuoza, a man whose second name is: arrogance, pomposity and an effigy of a man who was badly brought up in a sick environment. In the said Press Release wherein he referred to Delta APC as "A Confused Bunch of Unserious People", his uncultured nature was manifestly showcased by him to Deltans without restraint!

The said Dr. Ifeanyi M. Osuoza ingloriously put the title, "Dr." attached to his name in doubt. When Universities give certificate to her graduates, it is the tradition of the university concerned to certify the student as being worthy in learning and "character". In the case of the said Ifeanyi M. Osuoza, his alma mater and those who are related to him one way or the other might be having a rethink about their relationship with him because of his lack of character and finnese in public discourse/utterances!

In the said Press Release, "Dr." Ifeanyi M. Osuoza alleged that his moles who are on their way out of Delta APC referred to Sylvester Imonina, Esq., the State Publicity Secretary of the Party as an "impostor". The belief of "Dr." Ifeanyi M. Osuoza is particularly hinged on a statement issued by one Felix Okpako, a misguided element whose membership of Delta APC is in doubt, considering his antecedents!

For the purpose of educating Ifeanyi M. Osuoza and his likes, it should be known to him that prior to 2019 general elections and after the elections, nobody within or outside Delta APC including the paymasters of the said Felix Okpako questioned the locus standi of Sylvester Imonina, Esq. in his capacity as the State Publicity Secretary of the Party. Sylvester Imonina, Esq. was validly nominated/elected as the State Publicity Secretary of the party and anybody that has issues with that can always approach the Court. One is however baffled that "Dr" Ifeanyi M. Osuoza, and the PDP is suddenly interested in the internal affairs of the APC rather than focusing on the good governance of Delta State.

To further educate Ifeanyi M. Osuoza/PDP and their likes, it should be known to them that the former Publicity Secretaries of Delta APC before Sylvester Imonina, Esq. took over were/are from Isoko North LGA in Delta State. Meanwhile, during the run up to the 2018 Congresses of the Party, the National Leadership of the Party's position was that the status quo should remain. That is, wherever any position is zoned to before 2018 Congresses, the position should remain there. Hence, the leadership of the Party in Isoko Nation gave Sylvester Imonina, Esq. the nod to take up his present position as the State Publicity Secretary. It is therefore laughable for PDP and its cronies in Delta APC to suggest that Sylvester Imonina, Esq. is an impostor or is it that "Dr" Ifeanyi M. Osuoza does not know the meaning of the word "impostor"?

On the issue of financial malfeasance purportedly raised against the State Chairman, Prophet Jones Ode Erue, a man who continues to enjoy tremendous grace from God, "Dr"Ifeanyi M. Osuoza, PDP and their likes should be educated that there has never been any statement from APC as a party or from the State Auditor of the Party or any external Auditor(s) retained to audit the account of APC Delta to the effect that Prophet Jones Ode Erue was involved in any financial malfeasance. It is merely a creation of the imagination of "Dr" Ifeanyi M. Osuoza and the PDP. It is therefore shocking and preposterous for any sane mind including the PDP and  her cronies in Delta APC to attempt to discredit the good name of Prophet Jones Ode Erue and Sir Theodore Ezonfade! We therefore posit that whatever is being hawked by these elements in the social and traditional media is not supported by facts but driven by contempt, hate, mischief and bad faith.

On the description of APC as a Confused Bunch of Unserious People, we want to state that Delta PDP is the one whose name and activities are synonymous with unseriousness and confusion. The difference between Delta APC and Delta PDP is that while Delta APC believes in the principles of democracy and the right of freedom of expression of her members whose opinions and suggestions are respected, Delta PDP on the other hand, an amalgam of political jobbers is know to bully every voice that does not align with the Pharoah. It is on record that once the Pharaoh of Delta PDP takes a position, he forces it down the throat of every member of the Party whom he sees more or less as "conquered people" since most of them feed off the morsel from the master's table!

To buttress our point,  the position of the State Chairman of PDP that was zoned to Sapele PDP fold was unilaterally taken away from Sapele and given to a man from Ethiope East LGA because of the ulterior motive of the Pharoah of Delta PDP.  We are not unaware of the fact that persons were harassed, molested and threatened with grievous bodily harm if they dare opposed the Pharoah and his cabal in Delta PDP and/ or his choice of candidate.

It is shameful that when the Government of Delta State, and PDP is criticized for maladministration in the State, "Dr." Ifeanyi M. Osuoza and PDP political lackeys are quick to resort to name calling/issuing Press Releases. Unfortunately, when it comes to the welfare of Deltans and the development of the state, they turn blind eyes to it!

Because Delta PDP is an Amalgam of political jobbers, the State Governor can afford to corner humongous security votes on a monthly basis while kidnapping, cultism, banditry and other forms of violent crime continue unabated  without the PDP led Government condemning same and or taking concrete steps towards taming these vices!

Delta State have been turned to a Fiefdom where the Governor's sense of nepotism smells to high heaven. While his daughter is an SSA with a budget of over #300M, his wife through her pet project is rolling in millions of  Naira, his brothers smiling to Banks on a daily basis, Deltans continue to wallow in abject poverty.

Funny but painful enough, the political appointees of the Governor whose salaries were reduced by 25% have not got any impress to run their offices in the last three months but they dare not complain. Without Delta APC crying for the appointees, we state that the only lives that matter to the Governor is the lives of his family members and his close allies. What a Government!

Despite the distractions, harassment, intimidation, and confusion that Delta PDP is trying to orchestrate in Delta APC, the Party will not waiver in her avowed decision in calling a spade a spade and galvanizing Deltans to ask for their legitimate rights.

Sylvester Imonina, Esq.,

Publicity Secretary, APC Delta State.

Chief Igere Cautioned Iduwini Kingdom Youth Over Claim Of Ogulagha Oil Facilities, Warn Them To Stop Fanning The Embers Of War

 By Keneware Emmanuel

Warri......,........,.......  The Bolou-wei of Ogulagha kingdom High Chief William Igere has cautioned the Iduwini Kingdom Youth Leadership Forum and one Comr. Akin Edisemi Disi who is also the President of Odimodi Youth Movement for the purported claim of Iduwini being host and co-host to  Beniboye Oil Field, Forcados Effluent Water disposal line, Agip drilled and cocked wells, Trans Forcados Pipeline and Britina-U  Ajapa Marginal Field in a publication made in the Liberator online on the 17th of  August, 2020.

In a press release made in Warri and a copy of which was made available to Creeks News, Chief Igere averred that such claims and publications are geared toward fanning the embers of war/crisis between the two kingdoms as it is misleading, misinforming and uncultured.

He said, it is good for all kingdoms in the Niger Delta to seek for development from the Federal, State and multinational oil companies as a result of the visible neglect and marginalization but claiming facilities that is not yours to attract or draw government attention and misinforming the public is highly satanic, barbaric and condemnable. This is not the first time such claims and publications are being done.

Therefore, the Iduwini Chiefs and elders should inform their youths properly with a good sense of history and the facilities they owned.

The reading public should therefore disregard the Iduwini purported claim of the above oil facilities as they rightly belongs to the Ogulagha Kingdom People. He added.

Right Group Condemn Barr. Otuaro For Sponsoring Attack Against IPDI, Ozobo.

By Creeks News

                       Barr Kingsley Otuaro

___INSISTS OZOBO NEVER INSULTED CLARK, ACCUSSES OTUARO OF INCITING DISCORD BETWEEN CLARK AND OZOBO

It is disgusting for the deputy governor of Delta state ,His Excellency Kingsley Burutu Otuaro ,through his PA Bulou Cousin to have sponsored miscreants and faceless group to raise unguided attack against the most respected pressure group, the Ijaw People’s Development Initiative, IPDI and its leader Comrade Ozobo Austin, they made this known through a press statement which was made available to news men.

They said, Ozobo is a man who at several fronts protected the deputy governor’s interest and Ijaw nation.  This is a sign that Delta state deputy governor, His Excellency Kingsley Burutu Otuaro has failed Delta Ijaws, which is the people of his primary constituency.

The poorly crafted report, credited to one faceless group Bomadi Political Renaissance which was signed by one faceless miscreant Bibobra Custom was actually drafted by Mr. Bulou Cousin, a PA and a crumb eater of the deputy Governor, His Excellency Kingsley Burutu Otuaro.

The mischievous report was circulated to pressmen by Bulou Cousin and that shows that the report really emanated from the office of the deputy governor of Delta state, hence there is no need to join issues with the faceless Bibobrah Custom.

It was PA Clark that first attack and condemned Kingsley Burutu Otuaro unilateral meeting with Yemi Osinbajor, and instead of the deputy governor and the crumb eating and miserable Bulou to attack PA Clark ,they decided to go for soft target, because they are afraid to attack PA Clark. This shows that deputy governor and his crumb eating PA Bulou Cousin are lazy and not man enough.

It was unfortunate for the office of the deputy governor to have addressed Comrade Ozobo Austin, with derogatory manner. Comrade Ozobo Austin is a renowned activist in Niger Delta. He is the most influential public advocate. He is an award winning comrade,  one time PDP DTHA aspirant and one time NPC Delta state house of Assembly candidate who pursued his dream to the tribunal level and should be accorded with utmost respect.

It should be noted that the advocate committee inaugurated by his Excellency governor Ifeanyi Okowa which was led by Kingsley Otuaro in 2017 was confide to Delta state alone, and does not covered the entire Niger Delta region. Otuaro advocacy committee have ceased to exist. Committees are temporary bodies put in place to tackle critical issues at a particular time and after that it stands dissolved. There is no any peace advocacy committee anywhere in Delta state, Otuaro should stop parading with such imaginary group.

It has shown at all front that Kingsley Burutu Otuaro has failed Ijaw nation, he has not any day acted as a former member of the struggle. He is a beneficiary of the struggle but failed quickly to know where he is coming from. He was a commissioner representing Ijaw nationality in the board of Desopadec but he failed the Ijaw nation.  He acted as a sectional leader and Ijaws in the other divide was sidelined from every benefit of Desopadec.

It should be noted that there is no difference between now that we have deputy and then we don’t have deputy governor. Otuaro has derailed and have loss touch with his people. He is playing same sectional leadership he played when he was representing Ijaws in Desopadec. It is correct to say that such a failed leader lack power to hold a brief or represent Niger Delta region in national discourse. We have loss confidence in him. We can’t pretend that all is well.

It may interest you to know that Ozobo never insulted PA Clark ,rather supported PA Clark for throwing venom on deputy governor Otuaro, Timpre Silva, and vice president Yemi Osinbajor for such secret meeting without consulting critical stakeholders in Niger Delta region. It is shameful that deputy governor is inciting discord between Clark and Comrade Ozobo. Equally, genuine patroits like Nelson Madela can’t be compared with sectional Kingsley Burutu Otuaro, and that only true sons of the struggle in the government has the uniteral right to speak for the Ijaw and Niger delta people and not derailed former members of the struggle. Ozobo should be criticized if he gets to government with sectional and myopic agenda.

It is appalling that despite Delta Ijaws have deputy governor, youths and activists in Ijaw have to protest to drag the attention of governor Ifeanyi Okowa to embark on the developmental needs of Ijaw nation.  It is better we don’t have deputy governor than having a sectional and a sentimental deputy governor.

We want deputy governor Kingsley Burutu Otuaro to remain focus and stop sponsoring faceless group to wage needless war against IPDI and Ozobo.  The deputy governor should live above board, should not condensing so low to create faceless group to fight in proxy. We expect Bulou Cousin and any deputy governor aide to sign the said unguided report, signing such report with faceless and non existing name and group means they area afraid of IPDI.

We will release more venom on deputy governor and Bulou Cousin for further attack against IPDI and Comrade Ozobo Austin as we will not allow anybody or group to intimidate and attack Comrade Ozobo and IPDI.

Signed

Edo 2020: APC Youth Leader Leads 2,500 Defectors To PDP In Owan East Local Government

By Creek News

The reelection bid of the Edo State Governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, got a major boost as youth leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Otuo Ward 9, Owan East Local Government Area (LGA), Barr. Emma Egbeido, led over 2500 members of the APC to defect to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) ahead of the September 19, 2020 gubernatorial election in the state.

Egbeido and his followers, who were received by Obaseki, candidate of the PDP in the forthcoming election, declared their support for the governor’s second term bid, citing successes recorded by the administration in all sectors of the state.

According to him, “Nobody can convince me not to follow Governor Obaseki. Even the blind can see his developmental strides across the 18 local government areas of the state.

“I am not here to announce his developmental strides to us because they are there for everyone to see; his people nicknamed him ‘the wake and see governor’ because of the way which he has delivered his campaign promises in the first term.

"You sleep, wake and see that your roads are tarred the next morning. He will continue to be the governor of this great state in the next four years,” he added.

Obaseki also received a retired CSP, Stephen Iriabjeh in Ward 9 and Oje Ehire in Ward 8, from the APC to PDP, as both decampees assured the governor of their full support in the forthcoming election.

The governor further commended the people of Ward 8 and Ward 9 for their massive turn out, adding:  “Four years ago when I was sworn-in as the governor of this state, our agreement was to go and work for the interest of the common man, but some people want me to be under their control.

“They roped a stone on my leg but even with the stone , I was able to do so much  for my people. By the time I am totally free from them, I promise to bring more developmental projects to my people.

“I can see electricity poles everywhere and we still don't have light because some people are benefiting from the current state of darkness. But I understand the electricity politics.

“I will replicate what I am doing about electricity in Benin in all parts of the state in my second term in office as the governor of our state.

“I have equipped the general hospital in Otuo and directed that available nurses and doctors be posted to the hospital. I want the hospital to commence operation before my election,” he noted.

The governor, however, called on the electorate to come out in their large numbers and vote for him in the forthcoming gubernatorial election.

BREAKING: BURUTU LEGISLATIVE ROBBERY, IGB GIVES 7DAYS ULTIMATUM FOR COUNCIL TO TAKE ACTIONS ~ CREEK NEWS

LEGISLATIVE ROBBERY: We Can’t Harbour Criminal Elements In Our Chamber- IGB

Over ten (10) months we have been keenly watching and waiting for the leadership of the legislative chamber actions against the red handed criminality display by one of our  colleague, Hon. Ebisine Foburuku, Former Chairman House committee on transport.

Following the media out cry  by some patriotic Burutu youths over the criminal action by our colleague, we have deem it fit to come out to expressively put the records straight as we can’t keep mute while the credibility of our revered legislative chamber is at stake having we severally challenged the failure of invoking the executive law and culture against the culprit by the leadership of the council.

Narratively, in the course of making sure that justice prevail over the sudden missing of the 115HP speed boat Engine sometime early August 2019 as informerly reported by the former house committee chairman on transport , we lunched a very wide critical investigation which resulted to the recent revelation that is outpouring in the social media and beyond.

For the benefit of doubt, as a very credible  legislators, we also forwarded as well as reported the issue to security agencies and other relevant authorities for posterity to stand with us, yet the culprit till this moment has failed to honor their several invitations having being summoned by security agencies and the committee constituted by the council chairman.

While we don’t want to join issues with anyone over the robbery of the council, we are still patiently waiting, yet giving the leadership of the Executive Arm of  Burutu Local Government Council ably led by Rt. Hon. Godknows Angele who had over three (3) month inaugurated a committee to probe the allegation another seven (7) working days to do the needful else we will completely take the issue further to make sure that all high revelevant security authorities are invited to take charge of the matter.

In avoidance of doubt, we are strongly assuring the good people and stakeholders of Burutu that we shall definitely fight to make sure justice is prevail to enable a sustainable flow of the legislative activities and also to set an exemplary precedence to others that are dreaming to be part and parcel of the legislative business.

At the moment, Burutu Legislative Chamber have been desecrated of a crimanal act Perpetrated by an Hon Member which has to be consencrated to redeem the image of the Legislative Arm.

To this very end, we are working assiduously to ensure that our administration  unprecedented record is achieved by working in harmonious co-existence with the executive chairman of the council even as we are facing and battling with challenges that are endangering the growth of our LGA hence we will not relent in making sure that the needful is done over the issue.

Covid-19 Vaccine: Health and Safety Of Nigerians Is Buhari Administration's Priority - VP Osinbajo

_*Pfizer  says supply to Nigeria is priority in Africa_

The Federal Government intends to examine every possible option in the development and distribution of a vaccine against the COVID-19 disease, and the health and safety of Nigerian citizens is the priority of the Buhari administration in that matter.

This was disclosed earlier today by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, during a virtual meeting with representatives of the BNT162 COVID-19 vaccine candidate on the progress of the vaccine development around the world, including Africa.

The meeting was attended by the Health Minister, Dr. Osagie Ehanire and the Executive Director of the National Primary Health Care Development Agency, Dr. Faisal Shuaib with representatives of Pfizer and Biotech, the international pharmaceutical firms promoting the BNT162 vaccine candidate.

According to Prof. Osinbajo, the interaction between the FG and the promoters of the vaccine candidate “is an important conversation and it is important for us that we are prioritized-as the largest country in Africa-in the distribution of the best COVID-19 vaccine when it’s eventually ready.

“Our priority is the health of the Nigerian citizens. We continue to engage and intend to look at every possible option -from all manufacturers- of a good vaccine. We want to do the very best for our people in this regard.”

During the meeting the Vice President asked several questions about the the COVID-19 vaccine candidate including how quickly can Nigeria get the vaccine once it’s safely ready.

Responding, the Pfizer Country Manager and Representative in Africa, who spoke for the promoters, Mr. Subair Olayinka disclosed that “Nigeria will be priority,” for the vaccine supply to Africa.

Although the vaccine trials are not going on in Nigeria currently he said the trails are ongoing in parts of the African continent and it would be entering the third phase, having concluded the first two phases successfully.

Also speaking the Health Minister noted that the FG would consider quality, appropriate volume and how well and quick a vaccine can be delivered to Nigeria in deciding which manufacturer to make the supply.

N-Power: Stipends Will Be Paid In A Matter Of Days - SSA To The President.

The Senior Special Assistant (SSA) To President on Social Investment, Mr Ismaeel Ahmed has once again assured all Volunteers to be patient as stipends will be paid in a matter of days

While speaking on Max FM Radio 102.3 yesterday, he enjoyed all Npower disengaged volunteers to be lawful and civil in her criticism to the president

President Mohammadu Buhari’s government is friendly to the Youths, hence the Npower initiative, all protest must be peaceful to address the purported exit of Volunteers-SSA

Youths must be civil and constructive with their demands, the government has done more than expected within the last four years, the issue of disengagement must be contested and questioned using peaceful protest

Many volunteers aired their views on the position of Government on the Npower programme, some faulted the good initiative to be poorly planned

While the idea of Exiting volunteers is not yet clear, the GEEP loan and other incentives may be the next plan should government considers exiting volunteers

The session was rowdy as many callers called for massive protest come 6th to call government to order and hold her by their words of creating 100 million jobs for Nigerians.

By Keneware Emmanuel

A political group operating under the aegis of Credible Majority People's Forum CMPF, yesterday 4 August, 2020 pay courtesy visit to Burutu Local Government Council Boss Hon. Godknows Angele at Burutu headquarters of Burutu Local Government Area.

Speaking on behalf of the group Mr. Matthew Ekpokeme who is the Chairman of CMPF, wholeheartedly thanked the Council Boss Hon. Godknows Angele for receiving and identifying with them.
He specifically thank the the Council Boss for resolving and bringing peace and order to Ogulagha community and the entire local government.
He said the body which is made-up of over 250 peoples is throwing their weight and total support for him as a result of his  enormous achievements ranging infrastructural, human capital development, peace building etc...

He also postulated that a Revenue Liaison Office should be made at Ogulagha which will boost the Internally Generated Revenue IGR, and create job opportunities for the unemployed.

In reaction, the Chairman of Burutu Local Government Area, Hon. Godknows Angele express satisfaction for the group's giant strides and heartily thank and officially welcome them to his office.
He said he's emergency as chairman of Burutu Local Government has revived the local government. Most past chairmen has often times lived in Warri and other urban areas thereby leaving the local government headquarters abandoned.

Counting his achievement so far, he said he has succeeded in  buying generator to supply power in Burutu town which was not seen in Burutu for years. He said money to buy diesel alone could discourage someone but because he meant good for the people, he has to continue.

He has also retained and continued to pay over 400 sweepers, who sweep and keep the Burutu town clean.

He spoke also on the legislative quarters for Twenty (20) Councillors completed, Building for the HPM and Treasurer of the local government also completed. Women empowerment amongst many others.

He further spoke on the awards of public toilets contracts to all the twenty councils that was built in their respective wards, because that was seen as a major problem of the riverine people.

His role in crisis management is a topmost priority, when there's crisis many things will go wrong. Properties and lives will be destroyed and government revenue will dwindled. And as such, he make it a call to duty as the Chief Security Officer of the Local Government to wade and ensure that the Ogulagha Crisis is resolved. Also in Ojobo there has being serious crisis any time there's community election resulting to injuries and most cases lost of live. But since his emergency, he has succeeded in curbing it.
He has succeeded in completing the building of the Police Area Command in Burutu town. And has just recently brought a Police post to Ogulagha community.

As a leader, despite your achievements people will still insult and criticised you. But despite his criticism, he has continued to remain focus and make sure he serve the good people of Burutu.

He thus, declared his interest for a second term as the Council boss  but however said it is in the hand of God and not man.

He however, promised that Ogulagha community deserves a health Center from the government and not just the Cottage hospital as a result of her enormous resources she is producing for the government. If reelection, that will be his first project.
On the revenue office, the Council boss promised to look into it and get back to them.

High point of the events is entertainment of the CMPF members and taking of group photographs.

Present at the events is the Secretary to the Local Government, Hon. Perekeme, Advicer to the Local Government, Hon. Ignatius Ziakiagha, Supervisor Councillors and other officials of the local government.

JUST IN: Shoprite To Pull Out Of Nigeria

By CreeksNews

Shoprite, Africa’s largest food retailer, is planning to exit the Nigerian market after posting continuous losses from its operations in the west African country.

In a trading update filed at the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) on Monday morning, the retail giant said it was planning to discontinue its operations in Nigeria.

“Following approaches from various potential investors, and in line with our re-evaluation of the Group’s operating model in Nigeria, the Board has decided to initiate a formal process to consider the potential sale of all, or a majority stake, in Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited, a subsidiary of Shoprite International Limited,” the update read.

“As such, Retail Supermarkets Nigeria Limited may be classified as a discontinued operation when Shoprite reports its results for the year. Any further updates will be provided to the market at the appropriate time.”

Shoprite launched in Nigeria nearly 15 years ago, opening its first store in Lagos in December 2005.

That chain has grown from one to more than 25 retail stores across Nigeria — including some of the biggest retail stores in west Africa.
