PONDI CRIES OUT AS BURUTU FEDERAL CONSTITUENCY IN MASSIVE FLOOD DEVASTATION

~High Chief Seikam
Abuja

The member representing Burutu federal consultancy in the House of Representatives Hon. Julius G Pondi decries that flood has taken over most towns and villages in his constituency.
In a statement sent to news men and a copy was sent to Creek News.

Hon Pondi states that “In the past four weeks, Burutu Federal Constituency and adjoining local government areas have been under massive flooding following days of unending rains and pounding ocean wave surges that has led to increase in water level. In their wake, several towns and villages have succumbed to these natural discomfort making several houses uninhabitable and other valuables devastated. Thousands of people including the aged, the sick and children have been displaced from their homes, and schools made to shut down for weeks.
Some of the most affected are Burutu Township, and several towns and villages in the local government  area, while neighboring local government are also victims.

Ayakoromo community and it's secondary school, the Ayakoromo Grammar School are not spared. Bolou Ndoro Community, Tuomo, Torugbene, Ojobo, Tamigbe, Obotebe, Gbekobu, Akparemo gbene, Ogbeingbene, Ofenibeinghan (Okrika) and many others are now under flood waters. Also very worrisome now is the fact that thousands of residents (my constituents) taking refuge in alternative places waiting for the intervention of the federal and state authorities. “

He further stated that “The flooding has in recent times become an annual irritation, and in spite of my outcries for help both at plenary sessions of the house of representatives and privately with stakeholders to seek the aid of federal authorities, nothing is usually done for my people to ameliorate the devastation, even as I often note that similar flooding in other parts of the country are often promptly and swiftly attended to with public messages from state actors expressing their empathy for victims and the assurances of quick and sweeping supplies of aids. The same should be done for my people in the spirit of fairness, equity and public good.”

This year's flooding in Burutu Federal Constituency assumed a wider dimension in scope, breath, depth and devastation. Hon. Pondi said, spite of this, he have been in speedy contacts with some of the areas and residents who have narrated the very  horrendous scope, with pleadings that the federal and state authorities should make haste to intervene with relief materials in the interim.

It is also imperative that our state government should make haste to send aid materials to victims of the floods, and urgently interface with the federal government in order to continually infuse a sense of belonging in the people of Burutu Federal Constituency and the communities affected in adjoining local governments

It is my fervent expectation that the National Emergency Management Agency would this time hearken to the cries and anguish of the people in the affected areas by coming to their aid quickly.

The federal ministries of Works and Housing, Niger Delta Affairs as well as that of the Environment partnering with the Delta State government should hasten to proffer lasting and enduring solutions to the frequent menace of flooding in the riverine communities and the coastal fringes of Delta State.

The law maker said he sincerely sympathize with his dear constituents for this calamitous times we find ourselves. It’s most unfortunate that once again we are under attack from natural discomfort. in trying everything possible to ensuring that these times are only temporary, its my prayers and believe that things are back to normal as soon as possible he concluded.

APPOINTMENT: IDUWINI DOES NOT OWN FORCADOS TERMINAL- CONCERN OGULAGHA URBAN YOUTHS

CONCERN OGULAGHA KINGDOM URBAN YOUTHS COUNTERS THE MALICIOUS STATEMENTS MADE BY THE IDUWINI KINGDOM YOUTHS CLAIMING RIGHTFUL OWNERSHIP OF FORCADOS TERMINAL.

Advise The state government and the general public to ignore such claims.

Forcados terminal is not owned by any community in Iduwini kingdom and none of the oil and gas installations are in Iduwini kingdom except pipelines that pass through Iduwini, it is evident that some group of youths have taken it upon themselves to publishing such malicious statements, claiming ownership of Forcados terminal.

We Believe that If they have issues with the government not giving them appointments in the DESOPADEC board, That they are right ways to go about it other than making false claims.
Odimodi community is given out of pity some percentage in the tankfarm  in Forcados terminal, Which also doesn’t make them rightful owners of Forcados terminal. All the tanks are in Ogulagha land and none is in Iduwini land.

So therefore, The concern urban youths of Ogulagha Kingdom charge the Iduwini youth led by Mr Tarede and co to correct their publication and make reference to the pipeline passing their communities and the percentage given to them out of pity in Forcados terminal (tank farm alone) which is a storage facility  and not claiming to be Rightful owners of the Forcados terminal Ogulagha to instigate conflict.

KOKODIAGBENE: COMR. DOUBRA BLAST CHEVRON OVER NEGLECT OF HOST COMMUNITIES- CREEK NEWS

CREEK NEWS
24-05-2019
HIGH CHIEF SEIKAM

IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL SCRIBE BLAST CHEVRON NIG LTD OVER REFUSAL TO GIVE ELECTRICITY TO HOST KOKODIAGBENE COMMUNITY IN GBARAMATU KINGDOM  OVER 40YRS OF OIL EXPLORATION AND EXPLOITATION --Says CHEVRON NIG LTD is insensitive to their host communties

The Ijaw Youth Council Secretary of  Western Zone (Delta,Edo & Ondo States) Comr. Doubra Collins Okotete  in a statement sent to creek news has expressed his dissatisfactions and disappointment over the the refusal and neglect of Kokodiagbene Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom by Chevron Nig Ltd.

Comr. Doubra described the recent shutdown of oil activities of Chevron Nig Ltd by thier host Kokodiagbene Community in Gbaramatu Kingdom as a well thought out action and commend the Hon. Uyadonghan Poweide led community  executives and entire Kokodiagbene community  for embarking on a peaceful protest and shutting down of the Utunana flow stations as a way of expressing the displeasure of the host community over the long neglect and failure of the giant multinational oil company from fulfilling their cooperate - social responsibility, stating that the insensitivity of oil companies over community  developmental issues can result to a break down of law and order especially when  despite several appeals and engagements, Chevron  has refused to listen to the plight  of their host communities. It's so disheartening and painful he attested.

Com. Doubra Okotete who also hails maternally from Kokodiagbene community in Gbaramatu Kingdom describes the over 40 years neglect of his people as disappointing, unthinkable and a parasitic relationship that has existed for over 40 years.

He further states that "our people deserves the basic amenities of life from both the state, federal government and oil multinationals that are making billions of dollars daily from our natural  resources. Life expectancy of our people has drastically dropped from the World Health Organization  cut off point  due to various diseases our people are suffering from as a result of long standing  environmental hazards on our lands, rivers and air".

The secretary of western zone IYC also use this this medium to urge and appeal to the Governor Okowa led Delta State Government  and President Mohammedu Buhari  to ensure that the plight and yearnings of our people are addressed with positive outcome in other to avert the impending doom that will result from a breakdown of law and order.

Kokodiagbene community is a peaceful and  law abiding community and no doubt Chevron Nig Ltd has enjoyed this same  peace over the years and the community has also played their part by creating the  enabling environment for oil business to boom which is evidenced in the increased oil production culminating into the increased revenue the state and Nigerian government has enjoyed over the years.

This should serve as a huge  lesson to Cheveron, SPDC, Agip and other IOC's  operating in our Ijaw communities from Ogulagha Kingdom, Gbaramatu, Egbema down to the Apoi kingdoms of Ondo state whose primary aim is to keep exploring and exploiting our God given wealth but has  refused to provide for our people  the simple basic needs such as potable water, electricity, scholarships,  infrastructure and human capital development. We shall no longer accommodate the parasitic and pseudo relationship these IOC's are practising with our communities.

Comr. Okotete Hint that massive  protests and shutting down of oil activities are underway in Ogulagha Kingdom and in majority of our communities where oil companies have failed to provide the basic amenities of life. Pointing that its high time we take our destiny's in our hands as our people are dying daily due to oil activities without good hospitals and provisions of health care services to our communities.  We are seriously preparing and almost ready to not just confront but also express our displeasures via sending those IOC's  found wanting out of our environment.

CREEK NEWS: IYC WARN OBA OF BENIN OVER GELEGELE COMMUNITY IN EDO STATE

CREEK NEWS
22-05-2019
HIGH CHIEF SEIKAM

IJAW YOUTH COUNCIL (IYC) WARNS HRM OMO N' OBA N' EDO EWUARE 11, OBA OF BENIN OVER PLANS TO FORCEFULLY SITE PALACE AT GELEGELE VILLAGE IN OVIA NORTH- EAST L.G.A, EDO STATE --

FORWARN THE EDO STATE GOVERNMENT AND SECURITY AGENCIES IN EDO STATE  --

~COMR. DOUBRA COLLINS OKETETE - SECRETARY IYC WESTERN ZONE.

Following the incessant harassment and invasion of the law abiding citizens of the peaceful Ijaw GELEGELE community in Ovia North-East Local Government Area of Edo State, the umbrella body of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western Zone ( Delta, Edo & Ondo States)  has passed a sound warning to Oba N' Edo  Ewuare-11,Oba of Benin Kingdom and his kinsmen through it General Secretary Comr. Doubra Collins Oketete over their Nefarious act by invading the law abiding Gelegele community in trying to map out a land to site a palace for the Oba, a community that doesn't belongs to the Benin Kingdom.

The IYC in a statement sent to creek news disclose that,  "Gelegele (Gelegele Gbene) is one of the most ancient historical Ijaw communities of Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo state, Gelegele Community (Gelegele-gbene) is an ancient Olodiama Ijaw speaking Community founded by PA OLUGBO IKPITI  several centuries ago. Gelegele is a boarder community between Ijaw communities and Edo communities on one hand and also it is a boundary community of Olodiama clan and Egbema clan of Delta and Edo states".

The Bini Monarch has often time plan to assimilate Gelegele gbene, hence the incessant invasion and harassment meted on the Gelegele people by the Oba of Benin.
The entire Ijaw Nation is aware of the  Scheming,  manipulations to lay claim to the Gelegele people and community, so as to share the wealth  that accrues to the gelegele- community due to the attention being accorded by the Federal Government and the international community as an oil producing community in Edo state and the proposed establishment of a seaport and a new satellite town in Gelegele Community.

The IYC Western Zone through it's secretary Comr. Doubra said that continuous harassment and infernal act against the law abiding gelegele people is truly a call for war and the Ijaw Youth Council is gradually losing its patience over the continuous harassment meted on the GELEGELE community. Let it be known to the entire world that Ijaw people has  never been conquered in the history of creation and that the Oba of benin and his kinsmen are only trying  the patience of the Ijaw people.

Despite several complains lodged by the GELEGELE community to the Edo State Government and Security Agencies, it's obvious that the security agencies are aiding the odious act repeatedly exercised by the Oba Edo Ewuare 11. We stand not only  to condemn the said act but to also sound a warning to stop forthwith.

Let it be known that the GELEGELE people are not alone. They belong to Ijaw Nation. Therefore, the Ijaw Youth Council  and entire Ijaw Nation  shall resist and defend our people "the GELEGELE community with the last tip of our blood. The Ijaw people are peaceful and law abiding people, but, our simplicity should not be taking for granted.

Member Representing the good people of Burutu federal constituency RT. HON JULIUS G PONDI, Thank the good people of Burutu federal constituency for returning him back to the house of representatives for the second term.

In a statement sent to creek news, and published on social media platforms.

"THANK YOU, MY DEAR CONSTITUENTS

Let me start by returning all the glory to the Almighty God who in His infinite mercy favoured  me to be chosen by all of you to return to the Green Chamber to continue to drive the interest of  Burutu people in the National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. I am indeed humbled by your benevolence.

Please, grant me the indulgence to wholeheartedly thank the thousands of Burutu Federal Constituents who turned out to vote and  re-elect me and all other candidates of our party, the People’s Democratic Party. We appreciate you all, and we shall always do.

My sincere gratitude also goes to the collective leadership of the People’s Democratic Party in Burutu Federal Constituency, who dedicated their time and resources in ensuring that they won their various wards for our dear party, the People’s Democratic Party.

In particular, I would like to thank the  Burutu Local Government Campaign Council, ably led by Wing Commander P. Y Biakpara (rtd), co-ordinated by Chief Julius Takeme, fantastically  scribed by Hon. Godknows Angele, alongside Mr. Ebike Oromoni and all ward chairmen and ward campaign council Co-ordinators for their very commendable  efforts towards ensuring that I remain the only preferred choice of the people of Burutu Federal Constituency.

My deep thanks also go to members of the Julius Pondi Media team, members of the Pondified Ambassadors, the Unstoppable Force, Delta Ijaw Youths Movement, volunteers and other support groups that stood by me throughout the campaigns and subsequently, the elections.

Let me thank members of the Julius Pondi Campaign Organization ably led by Hon. Togoland Oruebi, and members of the Advisory/Elders council under the leadership of Elder Victor Awisi for their unwavering believe in my abilities. They stood  by me through thick and thin to ensure that we achieved our collective goal of returning me to the National Assembly. Clearly, I can not thank you enough.
That I have been returned to represent the good people of Burutu Federal Constituency in the National Assembly with a clear difference in the polls, to me, is an assurance that my efforts are acknowledged and appreciated by my constituents. Therefore, by your fresh endorsement and mandate, you have asked me to go and work more to lift Burutu to greater heights at the National level. The responsibility thrust on me is enormous and I want to assure everyone that I shall continue to concentrate my efforts on ways and means on improving on the delivery of more dividends of democracy  to our constituency.

Let me assure you, my dear constituents that I shall not relent in my passion to continuously serve and protect the best interest of our people in the Green Chambers of the National Assembly for the next four years.

In conclusion, I am graciously indebted to my adorable wife, and my children for their understanding and support. My uncle and brothers for their immeasurable assistance. They provided me  their moral and other required resources including valuable time in achieving this new mandate of our beloved people.

Thank you all, and may God bless Burutu Federal Constituency.

Singed:

Rt. Hon. Julius G. Pondi MHR
Member Representing Burutu Fed. Constituency"
