MY PRIORITY IS TO DEVELOP THE GLORY OF ALL LANDS (BAYELSA STATE) LYON

Bayelsa State Governor-elect Chief David Lyon has said his priority and that of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is to develop the glory of all lands (Bayelsa state).

Lyon, who spoke at an annual oil, gas and family thanksgiving service in his Olugbobiri home in Southern Ijaw, said he was indebted to the people. He said 2020 would be one of the best years in the state, adding that God chose him to lead and develop the state.

Lyon urged the people to pray for him and to embrace forgiveness, unity, love and peace.

In his speech, he said: “If anybody had told me that David Lyon, from Olugbobiri community, would be an elected governor of our state, I wouldn’t have believed it. But God has made it possible.

“Today is the beginning of 2020. By February 14, by the grace of God, I will be sworn in as governor. I believe God will use me to do something for Bayelsa. I started my life with prayers and I know that God will do something for us.

“We need not be afraid because the task to rule Bayelsa has been given by God, and we must fulfil it; not for David Lyon but for the people. In my campaigns, I specifically maintained that Bayelsa money is not David Lyon’s money. I owe it as a debt. The money for Bayelsa will be used for Bayelsans.

“I am wishing Bayelsans that 2020 will be one of the best years. We will not go to the Government House to play. When we tackle security, investors will come. I am also asking youths to come together and help in building our state; nobody will help us to develop the state and our communities. This is our time.”

PHEDC VS IYC FEUD

Barely 3weeks of total darkness, Bayelsa residence may get electricity supply again in the next 24hours, as IYC set to reopen PHEDC offices earlier shutdown over poor services.

It was learnt that the decision of the IYC to reopen the DISCOS's office for business was due to the intervention of the state government through the SSG, Kemela Okara that it will prevail on the PHEDC to improve their services forthwith.

This is even when the PHEDC refused to accept IYCs demand that the company should ensure at least, 18hours power supply to residence daily, and also stop the rationing of the supply as it is used to.

However, the IYC said it would monitor the situation after the office is reopen, but vowed that should the power supply not improve in the coming days, its next action would be more severe.

Nigeria Navy Arrested Foreigners Siphoning Crude Oil

The Nigerian Navy has arraigned pipeline vandals and oil thieves in the country and dismantled over 300 illegal crude oil siphoning sites in Ogun and Lagos states including the foreigners that has no genuine documents for oil drilling in the land.

The Nigeria Navy made it known to the press that, the raid was achieved following clearance operation in the maritime domain in an operation code-named Operation Kurombe conducted by Operation Awtse.
The statement released by Media Coordinator of the force, Commander Thomas Otuji, said, ‘”It is my pleasure to update you gentlemen of the press and members of the public with the activities of Operation Awatse especially on its ongoing surgical clearance operations being conducted within its Area of Operations as mandated.

“The Operation is Tagged Operation Kurombe literally meaning Clearance in the Yoruba Language. Let me inform you that the Operation is being conducted in line with its mandate and Rule of Engagement.
"The mandate of Operation Awatse is to curb pipeline vandalism, crude oil and petroleum product theft, anti-kidnapping, anti-robbery, anti-cultism and other related criminal activities that would impact negatively on the security of Lagos and Ogun; particularly Epe and Ogun waterside.
“This mandate entails the protection of the critical NNPC pipelines, within the Right Off Way from Atlas Cove to Mosomi where billions of naira have been lost to the activities of pipeline vandals.

" You will agree with me that Operation Awatse in the past had engaged in a series of operations within the same corridor with huge seizures of various petroleum-related materials from criminals.
Several considerations and consultations, the DHQ deemed it necessary to embark on a surgical operation in order to sanitize the entire Atlas Cove and environs of all forms of criminality.“
Specifically, from the early hours of Saturday 21 December 2019 till date, troops of Operations Awatse are engaged in a surgical operation to dislodge pipelines vandals from NNPC facility at Atlas Cove and environs in Lagos.

"The NNPC facility is a strategic national infrastructure for the reception of refined petroleum products for distribution across the country.

“During the raid, devices which include fabricated pipes and multiple hoses connected to the NNPC pipelines to illegally siphon petrol were discovered over 300 points along the pipelines and were subsequently dismantled.

“It is instructive to note that during the raid, some foreigners were also found on the Islands without any form of documentation.

"Interrogation of dwellers by troops further revealed that vandals collude with these miscreants to export these stolen products to neighbouring countries thereby shortchanging Nigeria.

“In view of these atrocities, it became expedient to identify these illegal structures so as to sanitize the entire island of these mischief-makers.
“The enumerated areas indicated a total of over 200 illegal structures (Shanties). Areas already surveyed for ongoing demolition include; Old Akinbo – 12 structures, Aditu–5 structures, Phase 2 – 17 structures, Ikate – 22 structures, Upstairs 5 structures, Virgin Land- 3 structures.
"Others are White House – 3 structures, Akaraba – 62 structures and Idi Mangoro – 28 structures.

“LSO included are Waterside – 19 structures, Ilado – 57 structures, Robert – 13 structures, Abule Glass – 21 structures, Ilashe – 37 structures. So far destroyed are 462 illegal structures, 150 thousand empty jerry cans discovered, over 5 thousand jerry cans with PMS confiscated, 310 discovered well/pits with PMS and 21 canoes and 2 boats.

“For legitimate residents of the Islands, let me reassure them that for no reason will troops of Operation Awatse unduly harass or intimidate anyone as they are there to carry out the Mandate of the Operation using its Standing Operating Procedure and Rules of Engagement as guide.

"You are enjoined to cooperate with the troops to rid criminals from the islands for the benefit of inhabitants of the place and for a safer environment.

“Furthermore, members of the general public and indeed law-abiding citizens especially in Lagos and Ogun states are advised to go about their lawful business and are enjoined to promptly report any infractions by criminals to the Operation’s Headquarters for prompt actions.
“Operation Awatse will continue with the ongoing operations to destroy the capacity of pipelines vandals to disrupt the distribution of petroleum products by NNPC.”

World News: Iran Strikes 2 US base in Iraq

Following the retaliation vows for the killing of its top military leader, General Soleimani last Friday, Iran has launched 15 missiles to the US military targets in Iraq Tuesday night.
Iran Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has claimed responsibility of recent US attacked military based in Iraq which covered Ain al-Asad airbase west of Baghdad and Erbil in northern Iraq.
A US Central Command Spokesperson told Vox News that Iran launched fifteen missiles, ten struck al-asad airbase west of Baghdad, one struck Erbil in northern Iraq and four failed. Meanwhile, IRGC official told  Mehr News Agency that at least 80 American troops were killed and almost 200 others were injured in the attack.
The statement reads further that, “Ain al-Asad airbase was a strategic site for the US which was used to support drones,” the source added.
As many as 20 critical points of the base were hit by 15 missiles and a significant number of UAVs and helicopters were destroyed, according to the source.
“Despite the fact that Americans had been on high alert, their air defense was unable to respond,” the source noted.
“As many as 104 critical points in the US’ positions in the region have been identified, which would be destroyed upon the US’ first mistake,” the source added
Iran also vowed to attack Dubai in United Arab Emirate and Haifa in Israel if US strike back on this regard.
Additionally, US Federal Aviation Administration has barred US carrier to fly below 26,000 feet over Iraq and from flying over an area of Iranian airspace above the golf and golf of Oman. Alarabiya.net reports.
