COVID 19: OKIBOU ZION CRIES OUT AS GOVERNMENT NEGLECT BORDER COMMUNITIES AND NIGERIAN ARMED FORCES THREATS ON FISHING RIGHTS OF VILLAGERS ~ CREEK NEWS


TOTAL NEGLECT OF OKIBOU ZION AND OTHER NEIGHBORING COMMUNITIES IN WARD 11 IN BURUTU LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA BY THE DELTA STATE GOVERNMENT, DESOPADEC, HON. MEMBERS REPRESENTING THE CONSTITUENCY, CHAIRMAN BURUTU LOCAL GOVERNMENT COUNCIL, AND NGO's

The people of Okibou Zion Community and other neighboring Communities in Kou Kingdom, ward 11 in Burutu Local Government Area of Delta State lament over the total neglect by the Delta State Government, DESOPADEC, Hon. Members Representing the Constituency, Burutu Local Government Council Chairman and NGO's.

The people of Okibou Zion and other neighboring Communities are in a deep pain in this trial time of the deadly diseases COVID-19 as the Joint Task Force (JTF) in the area did not allow the people to go out for their routine daily fishing activities due to the Federal and  State Government 14 days lockdown of deadly COVID- 19 and early before now relief materials, and personal protective items were shared by Delta State Government and NGO's across Burutu Local Government Area but Okibou Zion and other neighboring Communities were totally neglected in this hard time.
The Chairman Mr Matthew Wurus attested  that “when the Leaders needed the vote of the masses that they will always plead for their support and as such the people of Okibou Zion and Other neighboring Communities have learnt their lessons on the total neglect in this hard time and also vow to loose their bid of support on such Leaders during election.”

Note: Okibou Zion is a host to a multi national oil companies, Sterling Oil Exploration and Energy Production Company (SEEPCO) and others.

Leaders Okibou Zion Unit 24, plead with the state Government and leaders of Burutu local government to come to their rescue In this critical period as the livelihood of the people are cut short because of the global pandemic.
They also plead with the government and oil companies to come to their rescue as erosion is affecting the community. They urgently need shore protection they attested.

Okibou Zion is also a border town at the Ramos Sea between Bayelsa and delta State and is faced with heavy  erosion problem and needs special attention from the government and multinationals.
