He however frown against the lack of necessary kits in the Cottage hospital and the Island Clinic, on the part of the government.

Covid-19: Lagos Governor Rolls Out Economic Stimulus For Residents, Targets 200,000 Households In First Phase~~Creeks News

                     Governor Sanwo Olu

Few days after the Lagos State Government issued a stay-at-home directive to residents, in order to curtail the spread of the novel coronavirus, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu has unveiled economic stimulus package for the indigent and the most vulnerable in the society.

The stimulus, which comes in food packs, to be distributed to every local government in the State is aimed at cushioning the effect of the fourteen days stay-at-home directive.

Speaking after an on-the-spot assessment of one of the State-owned food banks, located inside the premises of the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives in Agege, Sanwo-Olu said the economic stimulus will reduce the burden of the temporary economic downturn on the citizens caused by the outbreak of COVID-19.

The Governor said the food packs, which were put together by the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will reach the most vulnerable communities and households across Lagos, saying that the indigents who rely on daily wages will be given priority.

He said: ‘‘We are here for an on-the-spot assessment, of our readiness, to see how we can fast track some of our stimulus package for our citizens. We are all aware that this is a trying time for our citizens and since the partial drop in economic activities, our government deemed it necessary to reach out to the vulnerable ones in the society. These people are those that fall below the pyramid, the aged and the physically challenged who need to move from one part of the city to another for them to have a living. We felt that as a government, the least we can do is to identify them and give them these stimulus packages immediately.’’

The Governor stated that the package will touch at least 200,000 thousand households in the first phase, saying the food packs are produced for a size of six people per household and would last for at least fourteen days.

“We have packaged dry food stimulus for about two hundred thousand families in the first instance for a household of husband, wife and about four children. We would be giving bags of rice, bags of beans, garri, bread, dry pepper and we are trying to see if we can add water and some elements of vitamin C. Each ration, we believe is going to be able to last them at least minimum 14 days just so our advocacy around stay at home, stay with your loved ones will be respected.

“This is a catalytic initiative of our administration with the hope that well-meaning corporate organisations and private individuals can step up to complement the efforts of the government’’ Sanwo-Olu said.

The Commissioner of Agriculture, Prince Gbolahan Lawal earlier said the Government would be working with the existing database of the state - using the Lagos State Social register and 4000 community development association register in 377 wards.

He said the economic stimulus is part of Governor Sanwo-Olu’s administration’s initiatives tailored towards ensuring that food security is sustained in Lagos.

COVID-19: WHY NIGERIA MAY BE WORSE THAN ITALY~~CREEKS NEWS

March 24, 2020

Billionaire philanthropist, Bill Gates, predicted doom for Africa when he told th
e American Society for the Advancement of Science in Seattle, USA, that Africa was in danger of up to 10 million deaths, should the continent be hit by coronavirus. This was due, he added, to the continent’s familiar challenges of poor health systems.

Luckily for Africa, the number of cases has not entered an exponential stage, unlike in Italy where the confirmed cases almost run neck-to-neck with the number of deaths. As of Sunday, March 22 alone, over 651 Italians had succumbed to the pandemic, thereby bringing the total number of deaths in that country to over 5,000.

In Nigeria, Africa’s most populous country, the Federal Government, through the Ministry of Health and the Centre for Disease Control have been very active in rallying resources and logistics to contain the spread of the disease. At the time of writing, the country has recorded 35 confirmed cases and one death. That number may not represent the actual spread of the incidence of the pandemic in the country, as the cases cluster around areas that are in proximity with the designated test centres and the points of entry into the country.

Although the government has moved to impose a ban on travels into Nigeria from the coronavirus hotbeds, a considerable number of suspected cases from badly hit countries had already gained entry before the ban. For this reason, we must be worried for the country.

While the global statistics of confirmed cases have shot over 300,000 with about 13,000 deaths recorded worldwide, Nigerians are still treating the pandemic with levity. The country already lacks the infrastructure to handle the seismic effects of an epidemic of the proportion we see in Italy, but there are other socio-cultural factors, which add to this to provide a gloomy prognosis, should COVID-19 gain a foothold in the country. These are outlined below and readers must take care not to be found guilty of any.

Number one thing to worry about Nigerians in the face of this pandemic is the ‘Not My Portion Syndrome.’ This concept has been popularised by a University of Nigeria consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist, Prof Cyril Dim. NMPS is based on the religious belief of many Christians that they are exempted from diseases or illnesses, hence they become complacent about health checks or safety. This may explain why most churches in Nigeria remain open and public events still go on, despite the initiative of most countries to shut down, including the capitals of the popular religious groups in Nigeria: Mecca, Rome and England. Religious leaders have a primary duty to secure their members. By remaining open, they are unfortunately going to be the major factor for a high incidence of COVID-19 in the country.

The second issue to worry about is the reluctance of Nigerians to obey instructions. This one has nothing to do with religious beliefs. Our people seem to be generally unconcerned about safety and precautions until they are directly affected. For example, the NCDC has called on individuals showing the symptoms of the disease to self-isolate. However, we have heard that some of the cases already went to general hospitals before the NCDC became involved, even though toll-free lines to contact them were made available. This is the wrong attitude in a scenario where the goal is to limit spread.

Conspiracy theories also constitute a major obstacle to efforts aimed at curtailing the spread of COVID-19. When it was announced that an Italian infected with the virus was being isolated in Lagos, many Nigerians on social medial called it a hoax contrived by the government to siphon money. To this moment, there are naysayers who remain incredulous about the existence of coronavirus in Nigeria. They include popular personalities like Femi Fani-Kayode, who recently shared a lengthy conspiracy theory on Facebook that COVID-19 was a lie concocted by the Illuminati in concert with the World Health Organisation to create fear in the world and then launch a lethal vaccine that would reduce the world’s population. Such nonsense has continued to influence the attitudes of many people, regarding response to calls for social distancing and other containment measures. Hopefully, with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar recently announcing on Twitter that his son had been infected with the virus, conspiracy theories surrounding the authenticity of a coronavirus will continue to wane.

The fourth source of concern is the problem of general ignorance in the population. Stories have been flying about, regarding the cure for the disease. President Donald Trump of the United States has not helped matters, too, with his hasty press conferences where he named chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine as cures for COVID-19. Consequently, there have been unconfirmed reports of a mad rush for these drugs in Nigeria and when taken as a precaution as many have erroneously recommended, this can pose more health risks. Although hydroxychloroquine and Azithromycin have been reported in the medical journal and the US CDC website as having positive outcomes for COVID-19 patients, the public must wait until qualified medical practitioners prescribe the needed doses, if necessary. Ignorance also means that others may resort to local remedies or superstitions to get cure.

Finally, the fifth issue to dread is the paucity of health facilities in the country that  can cope with a pandemic of this proportion. There are probably more cases than have been reported by the NCDC. This suspicion is supported by the lamentation of the WHO Director-General, Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, that there are not enough testing centres in Africa, hence the cases are underreported. Nigeria does not have the health system to cope with millions of deaths. This further strengthens the need to adhere strictly to preventive measures, which, unfortunately, are being ignored at the moment.

In the final analysis, government must enforce social distancing and allow only movements where essential needs for survival, such as shopping are required. Citizens must in turn cooperate and maintain strict personal hygiene to avert deaths in millions. The clock is ticking.

BOKO HARAM MEMBERS FLEE SAMBISA FOREST AS MYSTERIOUS SNAKES AND BEES FIGHT THEM~~CREEKS NEWS

Mysterious Snakes, Bees Fight Boko Haram Members In Sambisa Forest – Arrested Insurgent Reveal.

Boko Haram members are reportedly fleeing Sambisa forest to areas across Borno state owing to what they they believe is spiritual attack as they are being attacked by mysterious snakes and bees.

This was revealed by one of the insurgents, Kolo Mustapha who was arrested yesterday at Mairi ward behind University of Maiduguri by members of the Civilian JTF vigilante group.

Kolo said, “most of us are fleeing because there are too many snakes and bees now in the forest. Once they bite, they disappear and the victims do not last for 24 hours. We were told that the aggrieved people who had suffered from our deadly mission, including the ghosts of some of those we killed, are the ones turning into the snake and bees.”

He added that some of their leaders have fled to Cameroon because they could easily be identified by security agents in Nigeria if they flee to any part of the country.

DELTA APC IS PLAYING POLITICS AND SPREADING FAKE NEWS ABOUT CORONAVIRUS FACILITIES --PDP

     PRESS RELEASE

The Delta State Peoples Democratic Party, PDP has blasted the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC of spreading fake news to Deltans and playing politics with the deadly Corona Virus and the arrangements put in place to handle the global pandemic, if at all it filters into Delta State.

Responding to the latest Press Statement by the APC Publicity Secretary Barr. Sylvester Imonina which alleged that isolation centres in the State are ill-equipped or non-existent, the PDP Publicity Secretary, Dr. Ifeanyi Osuoza, chided the APC publicist to stop displaying crass ignorance over a serious matter that involves the lives of Deltans and instead try to follow up on global updates concerning the Corona Virus to be well informed before issuing any other embarrassing press release.

Dr. Osuoza said: "It is becoming quite annoying and distracting to always have to point out the crass ignorance which the APC in Delta State continues to display even in understanding simple things like the difference between a 'Holding Centre' and an 'Isolation Centre'

"First of all, it is imperative to state here categorically that THERE IS NO SINGLE REPORTED CASE OF CORONA VIRUS OTHERWISE KNOWN AS COVID-19 IN DELTA STATE SO FAR, and it shall remain so by the Grace of God until this pandemic goes away globally in Jesus name, Amen.

Having established this clear fact, it becomes equally important to state here for the avoidance of doubt that the Delta State government set up 12 holding facilities across the State, as a precautionary measure to mitigate against the potential spread of the Corona Virus,

These holding centres are General Hospital, Okwe; General Hospital, Ogwashi Uku; Central Hospital, Ughelli; Central Hospital, Warri; General Hospital, Bomadi; Central Hospital, Sapele; Central Hospital, Kwale; General Hospital, Ekpan; Central Hospital, Oleh; General Hospital, Agbor; Eku Baptist Hospital; and Asaba Specialist Hospital. These holding centers are already existing and fully functional General and Central Hospitals across the State and were set up in accordance with the National Centre for Disease Control, NCDC guidelines.

Let us also quickly state here that the Delta State government also recently unveiled a purpose-built, fully equipped and operational ready Isolation Centre, located in the Federal Medical Centre in the State capital, Asaba, which was commissioned by the Governor of Sokoto State, His Excellency, Alhaji Aminu Waziri Tambuwal on Thursday, March 19, 2020.

It is therefore very embarrassing and shameful to imagine that APC, a party which wants Deltans to take it seriously, does not even know the difference between a HOLDING CENTRE and an ISOLATION CENTRE. This is very unfortunate indeed because even a well educated elementary school child can easily differentiate between both facilities and give the meaning of what each stands for, just by mere pronunciation of the English words 'Holding' and 'Isolation', not to talk of someone who claims to be a lawyer.

In fact, for the APC publicist to boldly and brashly assert that a visit to more than eighty (80) percent of the said hospitals where 'isolation' centres are purportedly located showed that they are home to darkness and torchlights when it is dusk, and even adding that lack of drugs, understaffing and dearth of competent medical personnel are synonymous with the 'hospitals', is an unpardonable reflection not only of his total ignorance of what holding centre is, but sadly of what an Isolation centre should look like when there are no patients. The problem here is that he has been watching too many television reports and documentaries from countries where the Corona Virus cases have overwhelmed the medical personnel and facilities and he has mistaken such for Delta State where a single case has not even been reported or recorded.

We will not belabour the point of definitions any further, but would rather give Delta APC the assignment to find out the meaning and difference between the two facilities and issue another press release apologizing to Deltans for spreading fake news, misinforming the public and mischievously mentioning another facility in Isoko land, which is not even on the list of designated Holding Centres already provided by the Delta State government. Obviously, the information available to the APC is false, misleading and dangerous especially at this critical time.

Again, we are still shocked by the sheer ignorance and inverted economic wisdom which the APC has continued to exhibit with its obsession over the salary of political aides.

Here we are, faced with a global pandemic which has virtually collapsed some of the biggest economies in the world, folded up international business empires and conglomerates, closed down uncountable small and medium scale enterprises, rendered many people redundant and unemployed, quarantined whole populations of men and women in their homes, claimed thousands of lives so far and counting and even compelled many governments to reduce interest rates, costs of consumables from gas to goods and seek ways to provide funds to pay some monies to these people who have been incapacitated by the plague of Corona Virus.

And the APC in it's warped mindset is still talking about cutting salaries of political aides to save money to tackle Corona Virus? Do they even know or understand the magnitude of what is happening in the world right now? The obvious answer is that they are ignorant.

As for the level of preparedness of the proactive Governor Ifeanyi Okowa administration, which the APC tried to discredit, here are the facts:

1. Immediately the news of the Corona Virus broke, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, who himself is a distinguished Medical Doctor and had previously served meritoriously as the Chairman, Senate Committee on Health in the Nigerian Senate at the time when the dreaded Ebola Virus filtered into Nigeria and was successfully contained by the Government of the day, quickly directed the inauguration and activation of a Rapid Response Team, headed by the State Commissioner for Health and supported by the State SSG and key Commissioners. The Team quickly swung into action, long before many States, even those who eventually had reported cases.

2. The State Government has already established a purpose-built and well-equipped isolation centre at the Federal Medical Centre in Asaba to handle any emergency. The modifications made, in line with the instructions and directives of the NCDC, will ensure the greater safety and care of patients as well as the medical staff that will be attending to them, in the event of such an occurrence. It will also ensure that patients can safely interact with their visitors and family members without having to pass any infection to them, and with an incinerator provided, medical consumables used to treat any patient in this facility will be immediately incinerated to ensure proper care of patients.

3. The government has embarked on the training of healthcare personnel to work at the isolation ward. Five members of the Rapid Response Team in each Local Government Area are also being trained, in addition to the training and engagement of 129 auxiliary and paramedical workers across the State, which has commenced, as well as the training of laboratory scientists on sample collection.

4. Appropriate documentation and database for the arrival of passengers and crew have been put in place to be completed by all in-bound in the two airports (Warri and Asaba) and three seaports (Warri, Koko, and Sapele) and all passengers arriving Asaba airport are already subject to temperature measurement. This is in addition to the directive that all incoming sea vessels are to observe a 14-day quarantine period to be cleared by the Port health personnel before birthing in any seaport in Delta State.

5. The State government is also assisting in the local production of alcohol-based hand sanitizers and the Ministries of Health and Information, as well as the Directorate of Orientation, has already commenced and intensified public enlightenment campaigns to inform and sensitize the public on safety protocols regarding COVID-19.

6. All primary, secondary and tertiary institutions are to be closed effective Thursday, March 26, 2020, for 30 days.

It is quite saddening that against the backdrop of these very comprehensive and quite effective arrangements, including the fact that our dear Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has as a responsible leader who cares for his people, actually taken time out to address Deltans and calm their anxieties, the Delta APC has chosen the route of perfidy by saying that the Delta State government is lying and playing to the gallery.

Indeed how can any rational, right-thinking person or group see these elaborate preparations already in place, even when there is no case of Covid-19 in the State, claim to be disappointed and say that the government is not genuinely prepared to tackle the situation it has set out to handle the ravaging Corona Virus (Covid-19) issues if at all it arrives. We are at a loss to understand the accusation of insincerity on the Corona Virus situation and its correlation with the appointment of aides in order to do projects or even have enough funds to tackle the Virus headlong whenever and wherever it surfaces in Delta State.

The sheer stupidity of the logic is even more emphasized by the fact that on the same day the Isolation Centre was inaugurated, a major legacy project, the Mariam Babangida Way was unveiled, Commissioned and completely delivered by the Okowa administration. In fact, some present chieftains of the APC should hold their hands up when projects are being discussed in Delta State, but we are a responsible political party and our philosophy that government is a continuum continues to drive our desire to deliver the dividends of democracy to Deltans.

We want to assure Deltans therefore that the State public health centres are on red alert and active surveillance and intensive risk communication are already in place to mitigate any incidence of Corona Virus. The Delta State government has switched from watch mode to alert mode and this has been sustained to ensure that Covid-19 will be effectively contained in case of an outbreak.

Ours advise to APC now is to behave like a responsible political party and play an active role in ensuring that Deltans are constantly sensitized and enlightened in embracing and adhering to the precautions already mandated by the World Health Organization, the NCDC and the Ministry of Health, instead of spreading fake news and misinformation to gain cheap political points at the expense of the precious lives of Deltans.

The administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa will spare no efforts or resources to ensure the health, safety, and protection of our citizens but we must emphasize that observing proper hygiene and mandated safety protocols remain the best way to protect ourselves and stop the spread of this Virus. We, therefore, wish to appeal to Deltans to remain calm and vigilant and not allow the APC lies and propaganda to cause panic.

We must at this juncture advise and caution APC in the State to henceforth desist from publishing unverified information capable of causing panic and fear, especially on the social media. Our greatest enemy that we must fear most is the spread of false information which is a greater danger than the pandemic. We urge Deltans to always get information from ONLY official channels and disregard the negative propaganda which the APC is hell-bent to continue to put out at the expense of the lives of Deltans.

Delta PDP is very confident that we shall overcome this threat if we adhere strictly to the precautions mandated by the appropriate authorities. We are carefully monitoring developments around the Country and the State and will update Deltans accordingly and, where necessary, take drastic actions. But we will overcome working together as a united people who value our lives and the lives of our fellow Deltans.

PDP! Power to the People!!

Covid-19: Aviation Industry To Lose N160bn, 22,200 Jobs~~Creeks News

• Air Peace suspends Liberia, Senegal flights

• FG may restrict international flights to Lagos, Abuja

The disruption to air travel due to the continued spread of coronavirus will cost Nigeria’s aviation industry over N160.58bn (using Bureau de Change rate of N370 to $1) ($434m) in revenue and 22,200 jobs, the International Air Transport Association has said.

IATA said on Thursday that the country would also lose approximately 2.2 million passengers.
The association, an umbrella body for 290 airlines globally, had in early March projected 853,000 losses in passenger volumes and $170m loss in base revenues in Nigeria if the spread of COVID-19 continued.

In its country specific loss analysis, the IATA said since the end of January, thousands of passenger flights had been cancelled in Africa.
It added that the cancellations would increase exponentially with the implementation of additional measures in different countries.

IATA said, “International bookings in Africa are down roughly 20 per cent in March and April, domestic bookings have fallen by about 15 per cent in March and 25 per cent in April, according to the latest data.
“African airlines had lost $4.4bn in revenue as of March 11, 2020. Ticket refunds have increased by 75 per cent in 2020 compared to the same period in 2019 (01 February – 11 March).”

The association said South Africa would also lose six million passengers, $1.2bn in base revenues and risk over 102,000 jobs.
According to IATA, other African countries expected to record huge losses are Kenya ($320m), Ethiopia ($202m) and Rwanda ($52m).

IATA said the expected job losses for Kenya would be 36,800; Ethiopia, 98, 400; and Rwanda, 3,000 while loss in passenger volume would be 1.6 million, 1.2 million and 201,000 for the three countries respectively.
Director General and Chief Executive Officer, IATA, Alexander de Junaic, appealed for governments’ support for the industry.

He said, “Stopping the spread of COVID-19 is the top priority of governments. But they must be aware that the public health emergency has now become a catastrophe for economies and for aviation.
“The scale of the current industry crisis is much worse and far more widespread than 9/11, SARS or the 2008 Global Financial Crisis.

“Airlines are fighting for survival. Many routes have been suspended in Africa and Middle East and airlines have seen demand fall by as much as 60 per cent on remaining ones.”

In a related development, Air Peace has said it is suspending its flight operations to Dakar, Senegal and Monrovia, Liberia as a result of the global coronavirus crisis.
The airline said it would also be cutting down its Freetown, Sierra Leone and Banjul, Gambia operations to one flight a week and would suspend its Dubai via Sharjah flights from next week.

The Chief Operating Officer, Air Peace, Mrs Toyin Olajide, who made this known on Thursday, said the airline would also be reducing its operations into Accra, Ghana from Lagos to two flights daily and suspend its Abuja-Accra operations.

Olajide said, “Air Peace, as a result of the adverse effects of the coronavirus pandemic on passenger traffic, has today taken the hard decision to downsize its flight operations in order to cut the mounting costs occasioned by the pandemic.

“On the domestic scene, we are reducing our frequencies while at the same time, restructuring our operations by deploying our hoppers to more airports.

“Our international operations into Dubai through Sharjah International airport shall be suspended from next week as the United Arab Emirates has shut its airports to nationals from other countries including but not limited to Nigeria.”

She said the airline took the decision after emergency meeting following a decline in passenger traffic and the need to cut costs.
Meanwhile, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority has suspended training and exchange programmes involving foreign trips for all its staff.

In a statement signed by the regulatory agency’s General Manager, Public Relations, Sam Adurogboye, on Thursday, the NCAA said it was part of steps to protect its workforce from the coronavirus scourge.
Adurogboye said the NCAA had issued detailed guidelines for officers of the agency who had recently travelled abroad to self-isolate for 14 days among other measures upon their return to Nigeria.
He said, “This is just as a directive for the compilation of details of all NCAA staff already on any official assignments or training to a country where there is community transmission of COVID-19.

“This is to be forwarded to the office of the director general and the general manager, aero medical standards. All pending inspections, trainings and various exchange programmes involving foreign trips are suspended forthwith.”
He said the agency had also directed that the 2020 promotion exercise for staff scheduled to hold April 4 be suspended till further notice.

The regulatory agency urged all travelling public and other stakeholders to comply with all the directives issued to curb the spread of the global pandemic.
Meanwhile, it was gathered on Thursday night that the Federal Government was considering restricting all international flights into the country to only the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos and the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.
An official of one of the agencies told News men that the Federal Government would firm up the decision by Friday (today) after due consultation with stakeholders.

Edo APC Crisis Deepens As Faction Opens New Secretariat~~Creeks News

~~Whatever action is taken in  Edo State, please remember Zamfara State and be wise. . . Ayo

~~Obaseki’s faction declares event illegal
Adedayo Akinwale in Abuja and Adibe Emenyonu in Benin City

Efforts to resolve the crisis in the All Progressives Congress (APC) have suffered a setback as a faction of the Edo State chapter of the party believed to be loyal to the National Chairman of the party, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, has opened a new secretariat.

The new secretariat, which is less than two kilometres from the old secretariat of the party was opened with fanfare and attended by party leaders and members.

They were led by two governorship aspirants and former deputy governor of the state, Hon Pius Odubu and Saturday Uwalekhue.

However, the leadership of the faction loyal to Governor Godwin Obaseki, led by Mr. Anselm Ojezua, yesterday dismissed the event, saying it remains the legally recognised leadership of the party and its secretariat is the only recognised APC state secretariat in Edo.

Spokesperson of the faction loyal to Oshiomhole, Mr. Chris Azebanmwan, told journalists yesterday that Col. David Imuse (rtd.) is the acting chairman of the party as Ojezua had been removed.

This, he said, was confirmed when it was Imuse that attended the last NEC meeting of the party as Edo State chairman and that he was also there when the state chairmen visited President Muhammadu Buhari.

He said: “After we removed Anselm Ojezua in November last year, armed thugs took over the secretariat in their thinking that we want to eject Ojezua from the office, but we know that no Edo citizen’s blood is worth the political ambition of anybody because we were aware that all of those things they were doing was in furtherance of Mr. Governor’s second term ambition.

“So we decided that at the end of the day the building does not make the secretariat. If the national secretariat of our party wants to get in touch with our party in Edo State, they will get in touch with us wherever we are located. It was fortunate that the campaign office of Mr. President for his second term was available so we decided to adopt that place as our operational base.”
When contacted, the Publicity Secretary of the faction loyal to Obaseki, Pastor Joseph Osagiede, said: “I am not aware of any other state secretariat. That is not allowed by law. Our party does not allow for two secretariats so that is illegal.”

Meanwhile, the Deputy National Chairman of the party, Mr. Lawal Shuaibu, has lamented that the structure of the party has become weak and urged the leadership of the party to reposition it.

The National Chairman of the party, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole, had on Tuesday announced that in the spirit of reconciliation that the National Working Committee (NWC) had lifted the ban placed on Shuaibu and the Vice National Chairman, North-west, Mr. Inuwa Abdulkadir.

But Shuaibu while addressing journalists yesterday at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, which he had stayed off for almost a year, said he was never suspended, but rather stayed away from the party to avoid picking up unnecessary fights.

According to him, the structures of the party as a result of the inability of the leadership to reposition the party have become very weak from wards to the national.

He said: “Nobody suspended me; it was just a fight that I wanted to avoid. I don’t want to continue the fight and that was why I kept quiet. All I wanted to do was to raise my hand before the market burns because by the time the market goes aflame everybody may be consumed.

“All I have said in that letter have all come to pass. It is wrong to say that the war is over because, to me, there was no war in the first place. My letter to Oshiomhole was very personal to either save the party or allow it to collapse. I told him to come back to the track and if he cannot do it, let him leave because some of us have suffered to build this party.”

According to him, in the spirit of reconciliation, whatever happened in the past should be left in the past because there was nothing anybody can do when Oshiomhole said he has extended the olive branch.

IYC: THE OPOROZA PEACE ACCORD AND THE RECURRING BATTLE FOR SUPREMACY~~CREEKS NEWS.

 ~~The Fact, Fiction and Fantasy.

There is no gainsaying that the Ijaw Youth Council, IYC, is  factionalized and its being run and manned by two Presidents. First in the history of the Council since its inception in 1998 during the Kaiama declaration.

Without giving much credence to history, the IYC National President Zoned to the Western Zone witness the emergence of Barr. Eric Omare at a convention held in Burutu, Delta State, historic Island of no regret. However, this was Short lived by a parallel convention held in Okrika, Rivers State, that led to the emergence of Barr. Pereotubo Oweilaemi. For the first time, Council was factionalized, hinged with bitterness, hatred and tussle for supremacy as supporters drum beat for their various principals.

However, Barr. Pereotubo Oweilaemi witness a major boost has the then Governor of Bayelsa State, Hon. Seriake Dickson and Ijaw National Leader, Chief Edwin Clark throw weight behind him, proclaiming him as the authentic President of the Council.

From that time IYC's voice has always come in pair of countering one another's press statement.
The Council has being in a state of comatose and lingering political impasse rock with rancour and malice.

Meanwhile, Oweilaemi's faction was fatten as many Ijaw leaders throw weight behind him and give him the needed support and backing unlike Omare's faction that fed meagre.

In a bid to end the fiasco, the Oporoza Peace Accord was initiated by the General of Command, GOC, High Chief Government Ekpomupolo (the Doumiwei of Izon-ebe) and other prominent Ijaw leaders to put a stop to the crisis and give peace a chance. The two factions bow to the initiative for a peaceful and unity convention to transit power to the incoming administration whose Presidency is zone to the East.

While waiting and working tirelessly for a peaceful unity transition and electioneering process, the leadership crisis which was already before a High Court from time immemorial, declared Barr. Eric Omare as the authentic 7th elected President of the Ijaw Youth Council. This court verdict spark mixed feelings and reaction as some celebrate it, others kicked against it.

                  Barr. Pereotubo Oweilaemi

The fact now remains that Barr. Eric Omare is the 7th elected President of council. But the battle for supremacy caught a fresh fire as Barr. Oweilaemi appeal this case in the Court of Appeal.

The question that weeps for answer is, why the renewed legal battle for supremacy when the tenure has already come to an end?  Why is Barr. Oweilaemi Pereotubo heading to the Court of Appeal when his faction enjoyed the boost, juicy and needed backing in the Council?
Why is he desperate to be called President when he started and end with the same title?

Is there anything he (Oweilaemi) will lose in the next few days before the final handover that is making him desperate?

All these and many more are questions begging for answers. If not one may be persuaded to think that he is a greedy and self-centered leader whose quest and fantasies will outrightly and definitely led to nought.

Let Council glory be restored and let peace take its prime place in the Council.

BRIGHT GUWOR: THE UNSUNG HUMANITARIAN WITH A LARGE HEART OF GOLD~~CREEKS NEWS

Indeed, it is said that many are called but few are chosen.
Comr. Bright Guwor is but one of the chosen humanitarians with a heart of Gold the world is looking for in this present times.

Hero's are sung, Hero's are praised, Hero's are showered encomium but Humanitarians are loudly lauded and superlatively celebrated.

Comr. Bright Guwor, hails from Ogulagha Idwini and Kou Kingdoms of Burutu and Ekeremor Local Government Areas of Delta and Bayelsa States respectively. A super graduate of Political Science and Public Administration from the prestigious Benson Idahosa University, Benin. And M.Sc in view in Public Administration. A former Youth President of the Ogulagha Youth Council.

Comr. Guwor, without a foundation but is responsible of paying the tuition fee of over ten (10) students (termly) from his personal pocket without Foreign input or assistance from anyone, in Ogulagha Community and beyond. This is outside his personal giving to assist the needy. This is a great feat that many privileged and opportune people in the society can't venture into.

Bright Guwor's passion and flair for humanity is unmatched. His drive and compassion to render help to anyone in-need is superbly stricken and laudable.
How can a young man be acutely committed in paying the tuition fee of over ten (10) students termly (in private schools) without a foundation? If not for his undying, humanitarian, compassionate and cosmopolitan humanism.

If the evil that men do live with, and after them, then the good that men do will forever live with them, after them and will be transferred to their generations. It will be called trans-generational blessings just like the Biblical Father of Faith, Abraham.

It is my sincere appeal that you continue to increase your good work by not letting those poor children drop out of school and compassionately increase their number as their prayers, good will and wishes will continue to open more greater doors for you to soar higher and higher in your voyage of life even as the Almighty will beautifully decorate your nest.

PDP RAISES STRONG CONCERN ZAMFARA ISSUE BEFORE SUPREME COURT~~CREEKS NEWS

March 17, 2020

Press Conference

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) expresses concerns over the Supreme Court’s decision to reserve its judgment on the Zamfara state governorship election matter in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) is asking the Apex Court to review its own judgment.

The PDP wishes to alert Nigerians that this is another plot by the APC to once again manipulate the judicial process and secure judgment through the back door.

Nigerians will recall that the Supreme Court had consistently decided on the finality of judgments reached at the court. As such, all issues bothering on review were never reserved for judgment because of its belief in the infallibility of its own judgment.

Our party is concerned that the surprising decision to reserve this judgment is not in tandem with the established practice of the highest court, which was reaffirmed in its judgments on the Bayelsa and Imo state governorship elections, where it dismissed the applications for review on the ground that it lacked jurisdiction to review its own judgment.

The PDP therefore urges the Supreme Court not to allow itself to be manipulated by the APC or its agents into a judicial summersault that is capable of causing serious constitutional and political crisis in our country.

APC Crisis Deepen As 12 Governors Set To Dump Ruling Party~~Creeks News

APC Crisis Deepen as 12 Governors set to dump ruling party

Respite is not yet in sight for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) as the crisis rocking the party is showing no sign of abating.

Governors Mandate reliably gathered that at least 12 governors of the party, majority of whom are in their second term are already dumping the party for an opposition party or even forming a new party altogether.

This move, according to sources who are in the know is necessitated by the insistence by President Buhari and a National leader of the Party that Adams Oshiomhole must be kept in office at all cost. The governors however have fallen out with the Chairman and have sworn never to work with him again.

The leadership of the party has been subject of hot legal contestation with rulings and counter-rulings flying about on the status of the embattled National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole and some other National Officers.

Meanwhile, a meeting of the Progressive Governors Forum is currently ongoing to find a political solution to the logjam in the APC.

Sources say the embattled Chairman has been making frantic efforts to reach out to the aggrieved governors and is even ready to abide by their terms but many of the governors are wary of him because they believe he cannot be trusted further judging by the kind of betrayal he meted out to former governors, past presidents and other high political office holder who helped him to his seat in the past.

TINUBU PUTS OSHIOMHOLE, 2023, AHEAD OF NIGERIA.

Tinubu Puts Oshiomhole, 2023, Ahead of Nigeria

By Ikeddy ISIGUZO

FERVENT followers of Alhaji Bola Ahmed Tinubu have nothing to tell him than that he is the next President of Nigeria. Tinubu and his 2023 presidential is the current handle for worshipping a man who for decades some have made their god, lapping up whatever position they suspect he promotes and throwing in their own contributions to sustain the myths about the man who they dub the father of modern Yoruba political emancipation, thought, thinking suffused in sagacity that issues from any cap he wears.

The most befitting crowning for that tag would be a Tinubu presidency which they started canvassing only months after President Muhammadu Buhari won his second term. At the heat of cracks in relations between the Tinubu camp and the President’s, going into the 2019 elections, there were suggestions that Tinubu should join the presidential race. Inferences were that Tinubu had not been treated fairly after his sacrifices that midwifed Buhari’s presidency. Contrary views are that Tinubu should be grateful for the deference that had been shown to him on many occasions.

It was therefore surprising that Tinubu on Sunday released a lengthy statement upbraiding those whose ambitions were at the verge of ruining the party. He was pitching a defence for the embattled National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Adams Oshiomole, whose own unconcealed ambitions to be everything in the party is unearthing unintended consequences.

He portrayed those already bidding for the 2023 as putting their ambition ahead of everyone. They were distracting the President from the enormous challenges the country faces. He admitted they had a right to aspire (he did not add like him) but asked them to quarantine their ambitions until the appropriate time.

Allusions to sowing and reaping were apt insinuations that 2023 was harvest time for those who have sown. Who would be better qualified than Tinubu?

The statement was Tinubu at his best. The less informed would think he was the benevolent politician acting for the common good. The more informed know that Tinubu had timed another effort to place himself above the gathering crowd of presidential contenders, including those who well know that they were pretenders in the race.

Oshiomole, who the statement supposedly was about, remains an effervescent embarrassment to APC. Whoever got him into the position would be in perpetual pains over what Oshiomole had made of APC.

Allegations of how Oshiomole manipulated APC primaries for personal gain filled the media in November 2019. He made incoherent explanations of them. Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha was strident about the National Chairman collecting money from him. Okorocha complained because Oshiomole did not keep to the terms of the deal.

APC’s misfortunes in Akwa Ibom, Bauchi, Rivers, Zamfara, and most recently Bayelsa States, had been blamed on the National Chairman’s imposition of candidates for all cadres of the elections. Calls for his removal are based on these failings that shrunk APC’s dominance across the country.

Tinubu’s defence of Oshiomole was important. It needed to be made late enough to influence members of the National Executive Committee that were to meet the next day. Tinubu was playing the real party man who wanted to save APC, and not necessarily Oshiomole.

Outside Oshiomole, the 2023 presidential, what other national concerns disturb Tinubu? The Oshiomole message so important that it could not be recalled after the tragic gas explosion in Lagos that claimed many lives. It was an insensitive message, detached from the mood of the State in deep mourning. It was wrong day for that type of politics.

There is momentary relief for Oshiomole. The party’s NEC meeting has been deferred indefinitely. It would have been a strong platform to display angst against Oshiomole. A Court of Appeal order will help Oshiomole keep his seat with his dwindling powers.

Nowhere does Oshiomole contest power and relevance like in Edo State. He approaches the terrain with such trepidation that it is unbelievable that he was Governor of Edo State barely four years ago. He is battling to have a say in who becomes the next Governor of the State. The election is in August. His charging voice makes low impact in the din of local politics.

In linking Oshiomhole’s troubles to 2023 presidential ambitions, Tinubu skipped the present as is the practice with our politicians. While others have their ambitions for 2023, Oshiomhole’s is in the outcome of the governorship race in Edo State. Things are looking inexplicably bad for him.

Oshiomole was a convenient hangar for Tinubu’s message. He used Oshiomhole’s self-inflicted wounds to address his own issues and it was important he did to extricate himself from his long absences from important national concerns.

A measure of the seriousness of Tinubu’s abhorrence of the impatience of those beating the gun to 2023 would be a direct disclaimer of the numerous sprouting groups that are pressing the case for Tinubu in 2023. Anything short of that would be additional waffle to a political setting that is surfeit with words.

Defection Hit APC, As Segun Oni, Former APC Deputy Chairman Defect To PDP.

Segun Oni, Former APC Deputy Chair, defects to PDP.

The political drumbeat towards the gubernatorial race in Ekiti State assumed an audible volume today as one-time governor of the State and Deputy National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), South, Chief Segun Oni, defected to the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.

Oni, who became governor of the state on May 29, 2007 was ousted October October 15, 2010, following the judgement of an appeal court which upturned the validation of his election.

The declaration of Oni, a very notable politician in the state for the PDP is considered by many APC members as a big set-back for an easy ride for the incumbent ruling party, the APC in the coming governorship election scheduled to hold in the state in 2022.

It was gathered that Oni’s exit from the APC in Ekiti, attracted the quitting of the party by some of his loyalists who chose to move with him to the PDP.

Oni’s electoral journey as governor in 2007 has been contientious with his main opponent in the 2007 general election, Dr. Kayode Fayemi, challenging his victory at the Election Petition Tribunal in Ekiti State.

Segun Oni was briefly thrown out of office after the court of appeal upturned the decision of a lower court after the April 2007 general election.

In Ekiti State, effort to get a governor at a point during his tenure using the re-run election of 2009 was “marked by violence and intimidation since the man elected back in 2007, Segun Oni, was thrown out of office after massive vote-rigging emerged”.

Apart from violence, adding to the controversy was the conduct of the electoral commissioner who initially refused to announce the results of the re-run election.

In May 2010, Oni won by a split decision at the election petition tribunal. The Election Petition Tribunal sitting in Ado-Ekiti, the Ekiti State capital, upheld the election of then incumbent Governor Segun Oni, thereby dismissing the petition filed by the Action Congress (AC) Governorship candidate, Dr. Kayode Fayemi.

The Majority ruling declares Oni winner with 109,000 to Dr. Kayode Fayemi’s 106,000 after deductions of unlawful votes were made.

The appeal court ruling opposed this by upholding that “We hold that the Petitioners have duly and dutifully proved their case”. Two judges supported the minority judgement while three judges endorsed the majority ruling. And he was removed from office on 15 October following the Judgement of the Appeal Court which ruled against him in favour of his opponent, Kayode Fayemi.

Oni crossed to the APC in 2014 majorly because of his disapproval to the overbearing influence of a former governor of the state, Peter Ayodele Fayose and soon after became a Deputy National Chairman of the APC.

EMIR SANUSI'S DETHRONEMENT: THE NORTHERN AGENDA AND THE QUEST FOR 2023 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION.

The following  points are to be reason as the game ahead.

The game plan is that the emir should be removed since the emir can't contest an election and since he (emir ) have presidential ambition;he should be dethroned and that happen today.

Later Sanusi will join a political party to achieve his presidential ambition. At this junction, their will be great political revolution within the political Arena. Thesis and antithesis will happen within all existence political parties. Powerful elements and block within the north will come together and join the Sanusi force.

Even at time goes the president (Buhari) will prefer him to other candidates contesting for the post of the president. Later some elements/power block in the west, south and east with join force with Sanusi and Sanusi will later win the election.

Finally,Ganduje and some other leaders in the north who you think that they betrayed Sanusi and dethroned him will ask forgiveness and reconcile with him.
I know many will see this as rubbish and call me different names but when the time comes ,you all appreciate me and my message.

My message is to the west, south and east that what is going on is a political game and an act to seek political and mass sympathy for him.

OSHIOMHOLE BREAKS APC PROGRESSIVE GOVERNOR FORUM~~Creek News

~~13 Pro-Oshiomhole govs declare war against Rebellious Govs El Rufai, Fayemi, Badaru, Bagudu Others....

~~I Won't Quit, Oshiomhole boasts...

There may be temporal respite for the embattled national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, as he has won the support of 13 APC Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) after breaking their ranks.

A reliable source close to the pro-Oshiomhole governors’ camp told Daily Sun in confidence that as a result  of the crack, about 13 APC governors had decamped and are were now solidly on the side of the former Edo governor.

Our source further revealed that the pro-Oshiomhole governors had already declared war against the duo of Ekiti and Kebbi states governors, vowing to remove them both as Governors’ Forum and Progressive Governors’ Forum officials respectively.

According to our source, “after all these days, the other faction of the NWC has been parading a letter it claimed was approved by Mr President to convene NEC meeting; all the Progressive Governors loyal to Oshiomhole have gone to meet Mr President who denied authorising such a letter.

“The president assured them that he is fully with Oshiomhole and not part of any plot to remove him. He also told them that he believes in him.

“Some of the governors that were previously anti-Oshiomhole decamped because they initially thought that the governor of Kebbi State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu meant well in his schemes. They realised that the plot against Oshiomhole was not good for the party and an unnecessary distraction to Mr President.

“They essentially noted that these governors fighting Oshiomhole are working for their selfish, personal interests against the interest of the party. They said that the forces against Oshiomhole were based on flimsy excuses of the claim that he is a dictator and very highhanded. Most of them realised that those against him were based on mundane issues.

“That was how the pro-Oshiomhole governors resolved to support him and will not be part of any antics to remove him. They have constituted themselves into a camp to battle the anti-Oshiomhole governors.

“They said that having tried everything to make the other governors understand and failed largely because they think that they are more PGF than them, they are going to prove to them that they don’t have monopoly of anything.

“Let me confirm to you that 13 governors are now backing and fully in support of Oshiomhole. They are not only going to fight them but, I can confirm to you that they have resolved to move against Bagudu who has been using the PGF DG to embarrass Oshiomhole.

“They want to show them that Mohammed Badaru and Kayode Fayemi of Jigawa and Ekiti states respectively and Bagudu are not the only governors. They have resolved to put a machinery in motion to remove Bagudu as chairman of PGF and Fayemi as governors’ forum chairman. They now see them as agents of destabilisation,” the source noted.

Similarly, the embattled comrade has replied his detractors that resigning his office is the last option he is considering.

Comrade Oshiomhole has come under severe pressure from party chieftains, some members of his National Working Committee (NWC), some governors on the platform of Progressive Governors’ Forum, protesters and other stakeholders to honourably quit his exulted office.

However, apparently replying his detractors through a source in his camp, he said: “How could anyone think that Oshiomhole can resign? Quitting is the last thing Oshiomhole will do. In the contrary, he is more prepared to battle his detractors more aggressively now than before.”

Meanwhile, the camp of the APC boss has failed to confirm if he would report to office on Monday after securing the court order in Kano State to vacate his suspension.

BOOM: TINUBU SEND POWERFUL MESSAGE TO APC LEADERS~~Creek News

The world is laughing at us. We like good economy.

We want steady and constant power supply, we want jobs, we want food on our table, we desire good infrastructure and security but at the same time could not exercise patience for a willing government that is sincerely laying the foundation for all these to happen.

They brainwashed you with "hunger in the land" slogan. They said 20million Nigerians lost jobs.
Majority of those people who they said they lost their jobs were construction company workers whose contract monies were diverted and could not continue as at the time PMB took over.

With resumption of roads construction, rail construction, 2nd Niger Bridge, why are they not sincere to tell us how many Nigerians have been engaged?
They tell us bankers lost jobs, who liquidated those banks?
Did PMB or Osinbajo take loan from these banks?
Who killed Cooperative bank?
Who killed Societè Generale?
Who killed Enterprise bank?
Who killed Intercontinental? Who killed Skye bank? Some of them took loans ranging from 10billion and above and refused to pay back.

The banks fold up and you hear them shamelessly saying Buhari made Nigerians lose their jobs.
Since inception Buhari didn't sack anybody.
In fact he employed more graduates and junior level officers into the civil/public service.

He didn't owe salary.
By 28 of every month all federal workers receive salaries.

Because you are not well informed you sink their lies. They say Buhari plan to Islamize Nigeria. How possible? Even Military government cannot dare it. Nigeria is a secular State. They use our Christian leaders to brainwash us because we have no sense of history.
In 1999-2001 you recall the religious riot in kaduna.

I was in Kaduna then, many Christians were massacred. Obj was president then. Between 2000-2007 you recall the Fulani herders -farmers/locals crises in plateau State that led to declaration of state of emergency in plateau State.
Who was president then? Obj and not PMB.
Do you know that in Benue State farmer -fulani herdsmen had been at each other's throat since the military era? These kind of unhealthy political intrigues can only thrive in Nigeria where people have no sense of history or some people just want to deceive themselves.

Those who plunged us into the den of hunger, job loss, darkness, decay infrastructure, insecurity and poor education are posing as messiah, they killed our university system for their own to thrive .

It is only in Nigeria where a sitting president and his vice would approve for themselves, while in office, the licence to build universities. It is only in Nigeria where a president would abandon construction of National library and build multi billion naira presidential library in his hilltop mansion and the youths whose future is mortgaged will be clapping for them.
Resources that are meant for all were carted away yet you are here crucifying a man that is 'righting the wrongs' haba!
GOD BLESS NIGERIA.
