OYIF LAMBAST SPDC, OGULAGHA COMMUNITY LEADERS OVER EPILEPTIC POWER SUPPLY IN OGULAGHA COMMUNITY.

By Emmanuel Ken

Ogulagha.................... Youths  activists under the aegis of Ogulagha Youth Initiative Forum, OYIF, has vehemently lambast the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, Operators of Forcados Terminal Ogulagha and the community leaders over the epileptic power supply in Ogulagha community.
The group accuse the Shell Petroleum Development Company, SPDC, and the community leaders of playing politics and making huge amount of money with the power supply.

How can Ogulagha community be suffering from power supply when it is the host to major multinational corporations like Shell, Agip, Forcados Ogulagha Terminal (FOT), etc

They said the power supply is the only visible benefit the people of Ogulagha is enjoying from SPDC. Since SPDC could not even employ their graduates and O' level holders for professional or skilled jobs.

They lament that the price of food stuffs have been skyrocketed and the economic cum commercial activities of the community has been crippled. Women no longer cook decent meal comfortable as a result of the incessant power outage. It has further influenced the skyrocketing of the price of hair cut from two hundred naira (#200) to five hundred naira (#500) because of the use of private generators. The printing of paper work is now a no-no as no computer center in the community is open when there is no power supply. People who trade on frozen chickens can no more guarantee the survival of their businesses. Fisher men and women are now compelled to sell or eat their fishes in haste without preserving them on ice. Wielders and grinders who depend on the power supply to work and feed their families, has no hope of survival anymore.

The power outrage has made the community unbearable and an hell on earth to live. Everyone is complaining bitterly since this power outrage has lasted for more than two months running, They added.

They said, since this lingering power outrage, there has never being any official statement or report from the SPDC nor the Ogulagha community leaders to the people. Except side talks.
This is a show that there is a grand conspiracy between the SPDC and a few of the community leaders to perpetually impoverish the people of Ogulagha community.

It is highly imperative to note that before the emergence of this constant power supply in Ogulagha community, people fought relentlessly and ceaselessly for it. There were a lot of protests and public outcries before it came to limelight.
At a time when society was less developed, civilization was still an infant, the likes of Mr. John Olulu, who was the Chairman of the community at that time, sacrifice and push for the realization of the of it because it will be of great benefit in the future.
Today, it is learnt that as a result of A.G.O Supply,   some greedy leaders have rapaciously conspire with SPDC to market and make money with the power supply. Thereby, putting and exposing the majority of the people in total suffering and abject poverty.
This is outright wickedness and man's inhumanity to man. They opine.

They further berate and lambast SPDC for becoming a curse instead of a blessing to the community and kingdom in general.
They said despite the power outage which has brought untold hardship to the people, SPDC has double it by decharging acidic chemicals to the Ogulagha kingdom waters, polluting and killing the aquatic lives. This as ravage the only source of livelihood the people have. This is satanic and devilish in its entirety.

Since this power outage, there has never being a day or time when the SPDC yard is affected. Hence, they know the importance of it yet deem it fit to afflict and suffer the majority of the people, who are their host and landlords.

The Ogulagha Youth Initiative Forum, OYIF, called the SPDC as wicked and callous tenants, and the few greedy leaders involve in the A.G.O Supply as inhuman, who doesn't care of their fellow brothers and sisters that are suffering has a result of the epileptic power supply.

They urge the SPDC to desist from their fradulent ways and do the needful to the Ogulagha people within this week.
