KEKE RIDERS CRY OUT OVER TICKETS SALES IN ADHERING TO STATE GOVT ORDERS ~ CREEKS NEWS




In respect to the directive of the Delta State Governor His Excellency, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to the Transport sector in reducing the number of the Commuters as a measure to contain the spread of Covid19 Pandemic, Tricycle riders embarked on a peaceful protest over the sales of tickets to them on a daily basis inspite of the restrictions by the State Governor.

The Tricycle riders popularly known as Keke riders alleged that the leadership of the Motorcycle and Tricycle Association were forcing them to buy tickets of #300, Stickers and identity cards while the police men were extorting money from them.

The protesting Keke riders noted that with the new policy of the state government that Tricycle riders should only convey only two Passengers, it will be difficult for them to make ends meet after paying for Stickers and the alleged extortion by the police and VIO; and they are appealing on the Delta State Commissioner of police to call his men to order.

The Delta State President of Motorcycle and Tricycle riders,Comr Godday Usete has urged tricycle and motorcycle riders to remain calm and adhere strictly to the directive of the State Government.
Comr Usete who spoke to the state Treasurer Comr.Kingley Mila adviced Tricycle riders to adhere strictly to the directive by conveying two Passengers while motorcycle riders popularly known as Okada should convey one passenger.
Comr. Usete said," the union has reduced the price of the ticket in order to reduce the burden of their  members.
Comr. Usete urged tricycle riders and motorcycle riders that has any issue on arrest by men of the Vehicle inspection office (V.I.O) to report at the union office.

The Warri South chairman of Tricycle operators,Mr Paul Onyema also adviced the Tricycle operators in Warri to go about their business peacefully as thestate president is on top of the matter and Comr Onyema concluded saying his office is open for all complains.
