Today, being the 3rd day of June, 2020, Eric Kpemi and other Applicants approached the High Court setting in Bomadi that Chief Frank Akiefa led Excos of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) Western zone should be stopped from submitting the list of delegates to the Eleco in the forth coming Ijaw Youth Council National Elections. Their motion was an exparte application, meaning the Applicants did put Frank Akiefa and other defendants on notice. the court did *NOT* find merit in their exparte application and refused same accordingly due to the fact that they could not show that they, the Applicants (Kpemi & co) have any legal right to be protected and that there was no urgency.
Consequently, the Court abridged the time allowed by the Rules of Court to hear motions on notice and asked Kpemi & co are to serve Frank Akiefa and other Defendants with the Motion on Notice so that everyone will be given fair hearing, that this is not a case that can be heard without the other parties being present. So the Court made an order that *ALL* parties are to be present on the 10th of June, 2020.
As it stands now, no order of the Court has been made until every of the parties is heard by the Court. The status quo still remains and Chief Frank Akiefa is the Chairman, Western Zone.
By this proceeding in court, clan chairmen should proceed with submission of lists of delegates in the forthcoming IYC elections in order for their clans to be well represented.
